I have....I played there for a tournament when I was younger, I don't really remember much but do remember that the atmosphere around the town was very nice.

I went with my Dad and Uncle a few years ago. It's something to see for sure. Be prepared to do some driving to get there, it's just about in the middle of nowhere! Check out hotels ahead of time, the one we wound up with was not very nice. The town is pretty eclectic but cool, lot's of shops and little restraunts. Try some of the local beers too.

If you're coming in or heading out to the north, just off I-90 in Herkimer is the Remington factory, we missed the main tour but they have a nice museum too.

Don't remember where it was but I think it was around Herkimer too there is a tour boat company that will take you on a tour of the Erie Canal. Pretty interesting stuff and a nice ride if the weather is nice. You get to go through one of the old locks.

If you are a baseball fan , you will be in "Heaven" Everything there is to know about baseball and then some. Nice restaurants, if you stay in town , everything is within walking distance. Many collectables for sale. You will have a good time!

cooperstown is one of the few things left on my bucket list, lol, (kinda sad that i'm winding down my bucket list at 21, :)) we were looking, driving straight through from here to cooperstown is a 15 hour drive, so we're prepared for that. basically there are 3 side trips we're possibly looking at as well, 1) canton, which is probably the leader, to check out the football hall of fame, although i'm not as interested in checking this out as i am in the baseball hall, i think it would be incredibly cool to see. 2) pittsburgh to check out a pirates game at pnc park, but unfortunately the cardinals aren't in town during the time frame we're looking at. 3) going to toronto for a day, with a side trip to niagra falls, although i highly doubt we'll be doing this.
we're not big into guns, so i don't think the remington factory will work out, thanks for the suggestion though!

Even though its a longer drive, you should go see Yankee stadium since its the last year before the new stadium opens. Even if you not a Yankees fan, seeing the house that Ruth built is a great experience.

we had thought about that, but getting tix will be tough, plus new york city will be way out of our way. however, i think that would have been a cool thing to do if we could have worked it out, maybe had we of planned this a little more ahead of time.

Actually getting tickets isn't hard at all. I went to a Red Sox vs Yankees game and got 2 great tickets for $50 outside the stadium from a season ticket holder who wasn't going to the game.

it's looking like if this trip goes through, we'll be stopping there as well as cooperstown. we're trying to work it out for a week later than what we originally planned, as the cardinals will be in pittsburgh that weekend. are there any other touristy stops that anyone can think of between st louis and cooperstown?

Depending on which way you plan to drive, Niagara Falls could be a pretty easy stop. Buffalo is right on I-90 and the falls are only about an hour north. If you do go make sure and take the time to go over to the Canadian side. Much better views and much nicer park! Growing up in Buffalo but moving away at a pretty early age I didn't really appreciate them until I went back as an adult. Pretty awesome sight!

we sat down last night, and we figured we could go to buffalo, see niagara falls (although i hear it's similar to the grand canyon, sort of like "ok, seen it, that's a nice waterfall" and leave.) but then we'd go up and spend the night in toronto, and hit the hockey hall of fame. although i love hockey, i think i'd enjoy canton more, but going to toronto actually kind of interests me.

we're hoping to head out over memorial day weekend, drive up through pittsburgh to catch a pirates game, then onto either canton or toronto (football or hockey hall of fame, when it comes to the two, i'd rather go to the football hof than the hockey hof, but city wise, i'd much rather see toronto than canton :)) and of course hit up the hall. hopefully i'll have some more info in the next few days, are there any suggestions for any of the places that i just mentioned restaraunt/site seeing wise?

here's a little update: arrived in cleveland yesterday, nothing too special, didn't do much in town, but this morning we stopped by the rock and roll hall of fame, didn't go in, but a cool looking building, also saw the browns' stadium, as well as the tribe's. we then drove up to niagara falls, at first i thought it was going to be rather boring, but i liked it! we're staying in syracuse tonight, and leaving bright and early tomorrow to go to cooperstown. i've uploaded some pics, i'll do more after cooperstown tomorrow. also, here's a short clip of the falls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNS8Ck7caOE

we're in state college pennsylvania right now, went to cooperstown today, all i can say is amazing! for any baseball fan, it's a must see. some of the points of note in the museum are ruth's 60th home run ball, maris' 61st ball, balls from every no hitter and perfect game ever thrown (none from lester's no no yet) a t-206 honus wagner card, and much, much more. i'm on one of the hotel's computers, the internet wasn't working in our room yet, so hopefully later today i'll post some pictures up. we're off to see the football hall tomorrow, and then probably back to st louis late tomorrow night.

Scott, great pics. looks like a great trip. That Johnny Cash tour bus is almost (almost) as cool as an F40.

Did you swing by Canton? How did it compare with Cooperstown? I'm a Cards fan, but prefer football over baseball if its not my Birdinals.

Pujols got to him early with an RBI double but he kept his composure and struck out the side, leaving after 6 with 7Ks.
