    I broke the 2nd gear on my 1986TR
    does anybody know if have to take the engine out to fix it or I can open the 'box case alone?

    Engine must come out...and then the transaxle separated from the tranaxle to disassemble.

    on the + side its easy to drop the engine on an 86 TR, just 4 bolts & some lines and it comes out the bottom

    Its a TR they break 2nd gear. I know someone with a parts gearbox with a good second gear. He is considering parting out the gearbox he just took out that needs a crown and pinion.

    Call Rod Drew at FAI in Sourhern Cal, he has probably done more TR gearboxes than anybody in the USA. People send him gearboxes from all over, Ted Rutlands sends his there.
