Cape Breton's Cabot Trail in the fall. We are blessed with this world class road and scenery in our back yard. Let take our Ferrari's for a real workout here next fall? If we plan for it now you can easily fit 2/3 days into a fall schedule. I will keep posting once a week to keep the "Nova Scotia Thread" highlighted.

There's are reason Travel And Leisure Magazine named the Cabot Trail number 1 in all North America for 2008 (#2 in 2007) as the best road trip in North America : http://www.travelandleisure.com/worldsbest/2008/results.cfm?cat=islandsusca

Staying too close to home (staying safe) with your Ferrari is not cool!

Just make sure your brakes are in top notch condition.

..and avoid those moose mating by the roadside....:D :D :D

I'd love to participate (did the trip in a boring Subaru last fall), but the distance to the "starting gate" is a bit too much for my old Mondi, I'm afraid...

Cabot Trail is like a rollercoaster for cars! You guys will have a blast! I go golfing at Fox Harb'r (Ron Joyce's Golf Course) every year ... and then do an East Coast Tour with the Vette each August. The Cabot Trail was my first tour, and it was a great day ... although I think if I do it again next year, I'll stop at a B&B, and enjoy more of the sea food!

The road to the Highlands Links is bumpy in places but oh so much fun. Be careful not to get too aggressive on some of the turns, it can be a 400 foot drop straight into the ocean! I don't take nearly enough photos when I travel to Cape Breton. Also the Highland Links have dropped off the map in terms of course conditions, I no longer recommend the trip.

It really is a world class place. At 330 kilometers from start to finish it makes a perfect 2/3 day tour. I've done the trail many times by car, once by motorcycle (very fun on a GSXR-600) and 3 times on my bicycle. Never get tired of the scenery, the people and the food.

The Inverary Resort in Baddeck is a great place, {I've never liked B&B's}, it's right on the Bras Dor Lakes and near civilization.

87 kph down the French Mountain - no speed wobble....:) It really is a hoot on a bicycle - a real sense of freedom.

Nice shot. Did you smell the Vette brakes heating up on any of the mountains?

Nope, I have the Z51 upgrade ... so the brakes are more than sufficient ... In fact, I finally replaced my rotors after 193,000 kms. ... which included over 1,000 kms up at Mosport during Apex track days! Not bad for a '05! LOL

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll have to check it out.

A friend of mine loves his single malts, he and his wife stayed at Glenora Distillery ... http://www.glenoradistillery.com/glenbreton.htm ... I thought I might check it out. Have you been there? What do you think of it?

I've never been, I only head that way for golf at Inverness with the Silverbacks of the family. I do know people who have stopped in, I don't think they stayed the night though, any place like that will have accommodations worth enjoying.

Is this still a go? And is it F-cars only? I'm new to the province and wouldn't mind checking out the Cabot Trail too.

I'm so in! I was going to do this myself, but was a bit nervous about doing it entirely alone.

Mike, your profile says Calgary, but your message suggest you're in Atlantic Canada now?

Keeping this thread alive.......From Toronto to say Quebec City first day where would you stay in the Gaspe if I wanted to go around the peninsula via Perce? Can anybody suggest a scenic route south through New Brunswick (stay interior or go coastline?) Also, before Cape Breton would like to visit PEI - can you suggest nice hotel? Thanks

Initially there was no interest so I stopped posting. YES - its still a go and its not just for f-cars. So far there is myself, a 993 and a 911 commited so there is a group forming! Date is still to be determined but we have been thinking somewhere around Labour day. Maybe if those interested could give input we could get some kind of time consensus formed. It would be a wonderful weekend of world class food, golf, scenery and autos. We have all summer to hammer it out.

I'm pretty open to times, but I'm pretty busy (self employed consultant) so I need a fair bit of advance notice for planning.

Would some time during the first two weeks of August be possible for a run? If so, I'm in. Andruet, maybe we can caravan from Toronto? Cape Bretoners, what's traffic like on the trail in early August?

That's a bit earlier than I'd prefer, but doable, I think.

Hey Clamont, no I'm in Halifax now. Moved out last summer. Never been to CB but here it's great. Would love to do the trial with a few other cars and with some people in the know.

Just bumping this thing to keep it alive.

So, are people still on for this? I think we need to start firming up dates ...

P.S. - Hey Troy, great meeting you on Sunday, and do say thanks to the Porsche guys. Nice group and a fun drive.

Thanks for bumping this thread. My dates will are fairly firm as I plan to go while my wife takes the kids to visit her sister in California during the first week of August. I plan to leave Toronto Aug. 4 and arrive for the weekend. Drive the trail over the weekend, then head back on Aug. 10. Of course, I am a little flexible if a drive could be organised.

Looking forward to meeting you all :)
