I was in the Townsville over the last 2 days. Drove home this morning. Drove 930km in 8 hrs.
Here are what the roads are like between Mount Isa-Hughenden on the way to Townsville. The Townsville side of Hughenden and Charters Towers the roads are immaculate, of course.  All those pics were randomly taken while driving home today. There was PLENTY more damage on those roads, but I only took a few pics to show you guys why I do not and will not drive my Ferrari anywhere but in Mount Isa! Plenty of pot holes along the way. Parts of the road missing, some parts the complete lane is missing and you drive on dirt for many km's. Roads are all ****ed and they are trying to repair them, but its slow and never seems to get done properly. My Magna copped beating today.  I am thinking I should truck it over to Townsville again one day soon. The roads there are very good and last time I had the Ferrari there I had a wonderful time. So Simon, im sorry but I refuse to drive the Ferarri to Pentland to have a piss up with you!

If you have a REAL good look, you can see a tipper trailer that has tipped over on its side.
 I'd say the dirt lane contributed to the truckie losing control causing this tip over. No one was injured I was told by the Policeman who was explaining the situation to motorists as we stopped and waited to drive past the scene. Cops were there barricading off the area and I guess they will get a crane in to lift the trailer back on its wheels. GREAT roads we have in the outback eh?

The Isa-Townsville stretch is VERY important as its the only way to get over there and its vital for road frieght etc...etc.. Of course the local roads are crap cause its supply and demand. There are 1.5 mill people in Brissy, so they HAVE to throw money at those roads to maintain them. Mount Isa has 22,000 people at best so the roads are of lower priority here. The Gov needs to throw a hundred mill out this way to fix all the roads properly. That way, they will be right for another 50 yrs. I can do a Pentland piss-up in other car but my Ferrari mate! Whenever you're keen, let me know.
