It did cross my mind to do it that way, but I do not particularly like the appearance of the OEM A/C unit. I've never actually used the heater, but I've frequeently dreamed (hallucinated?) of being cool while stopped at the light on a hot day. I'm not ruling out being able to shoehorn both the heater and evaporator core into the tunnel, but if something has to go, I'll ditch the heater.

This is being designed to be reversible anyways, so if some future owner doesn't feel warm enough in the cockpit, they will be able to reconfigure it to stock, at the small expense of ripping out the entire interior of the cabin to get at it! ;^)

Dude, we moved to SF so that I could drive my 400GT and not be hot all the time! ;^D (try driving in LA traffic...)

These Lambos were certainly not designed to run cool, especially if you're doing any city driving.

I'm glad you feel that way Fred - that means you'll have no issues selling me your Borletti A/C unit cheap!

Is that really the same unit as in the Miura?

(btw, it's not for sale. It doesn't fit in a safety deposit box or it'd be there

Question Borletti Parts manual?

We have seen the Borletti owners manual, how about the parts manual or service manual?
also it looks like the unit casing is hinged at one end, is this the case?
any photos of ths unit out and apart?
thanks

Smile Main switch - System on & fan speed

Here is another view of a Miura dashboard switch. Refered to as the fan speed switch, it actually turns on all the components as well - interior fan, exterior condenser fan, the compressor clutch and powers the evaporator thermostat.

Anyone know the wire colors and sizes associated with each terminal?

I think my first photo terminals were mismarked. Some of you experts check this out please.
Avoid smoke testing when ever possible!
Thanks

Here's a link to a thin condenser which should fit neatly onto the front radiator. The radiator may have to be shimmed to sit up 1/4" or so, to provide clearance for the front clamshell to open fully. $84.

Thomas, looks like a reasonable good fit. Will you be using hose all the way to complete the circuit? Seems like the central vent tunnel could provide some hideaway space. Maybe even add a "late S wedge" for dryer space. Keep us posted on your design and build.
thanks

Still debating - aluminum pipe is really not all that expensive, but I will have to get the bends right - hose would certainly be easier to route, but bulkier.

I have a choice to make the engine bay look stock, along with underwhelming piston compressor, or just route the thing as best I can, and use a superior rotary compressor. Dryer will probably be visible to the left of the battery.

Using a heater core from a late 60's mini, I've now got a heater and a decent size evaporator to fit easily in the existing space for the old heater (blower needs to be moved to radio compartment). Too bad they didn't put A/C there in the first place - a few days of thinking on the part of Lamborghini would have yielded a decent and functional solution.

I kinda like the dashboard or interior unit where it was designed, myself. The compressor is dated, the condensor is small and in an unfortunate location.

Cool Inside the dashboard portion of Miura AC

Thanks Bruno,
Here is a shot of the dash opened up. Nice wiring reference, interesting vent install, looks like there might be missing foam (in this photo) to seal the vents to the evap.

Miura madness
