Considering that a simple engine rebuild if needed will cost as much or more as a decent 400i auto, even getting a car full of unknowns for free could be a risky proposition, at least if you are not planning on parting it out. Sometimes there is nothing more expensive than a cheap Ferrari. |

hi ashman, i agree
i have three of those very expensive cars. one with a tendency to mix oil and water. i now know that was not an option from Ferrari.

Value
In my humble opinion, the price has now reached the ground. I guess we all have in mind the value, some years ago, of a 330 gt with its unusual front part or of a 250 gte 2+2 that was considered as a basis to build a gto replica. These cars were said to be cheap, but likely to be expensive to maintain, exactly what is currently being said from our cars. I expect the 365GT4/400/412 to appreciate in the next years, like the 250gte and 330gt did some years ago. I keep mine! By the way, I've just bought a jaguar e-type, '65 series one. I wonder whether I am the only one to own both a 400 and an e-type.

Imho this series of ferrari presents great value. I presently own another of the 'less popular" models of the marque which is a 89 Mondialt cabriolet. I have always liked the 365/400 series and I have been lurking in the background just following along and enjoying the pictures. I would like to officially declare (my wife has been warned) that I am going to begin the search for one of these vehicles. If someone has one for sale or if you know where there might be one for sale please let me know. I will keep the mondial as I have it pretty much sorted out and I much prefer the coupe to the convertible. Just to make things more complicated I live in Ontario, Canada. Thanks for reading !!

Have you checked out Gran Turismo in Alliston? They seem to be really onto 400s and I believe have one (or more) for sale. I have only been there once but Brett seemed very friendly and genuinely interested in the model.

what are 400a's worth...?...i wouldn't part with mine for less than $50K...but, even then, it's not for sale.
