A friend of mine in ATL is interested in selling his 328 as he wants a 355. Check out this thread in the South Central forum. Well cared for car.

I have an excellent 86' 328 GTS Euro with recent major done a few months ago. It is in excellent condition and I am selling it to move on to my next Ferrari. I live in central Florida, Winter Haven. I have tons of pictures and all documentation scanned. The car is driven weekly and runs perfect. Please contact me if interested for a meeting. My email is mforni@tampabay.rr.com. Check out my ad as well on the ferrariads section.

There in lies your problem. IMHO your about $10k short for a "starter" 328. In this market you could however purchase a very nice 308 qv for $25k+

![]() Personally, I don't think you are doing your son any favors by getting him an extremely needy 328. As someone else said, you are at least 10K shy of a driver 328 and IMHO, you are going to be looking at some needy 308's as well. Just my .02. It is a nice gesture though!

Your right. The most important thing for a 24 year old with his whole life ahead of him to be investing his future in is a banged up Ferrari. There is a moral lesson to be learned somewhere in there...I may just have to dig a little. As for the Ferrari thing. You apparently have no concept of how the Ferrari thing works. People buy 328's because they are stone cold reliable and they are enamored with the flowing lines. A good 328 and a good 348 trade for about the same, and people don't generally move "up" to a 355. They buy a 355 because that is the car they wanted...and they are prepared to deal with the potentially catastrophic repair bills that go along with owning such a spectacular Ferrari. I find that people don't move "up" in the Ferrari world. They move "around" which is why, I believe, older Ferraris still retain a significant percentage of their value, even in the face of falling 360 prices. As for your situation. Here's the deal. Generally speaking, the guys with the real good cars can afford to wait to get their price...or close to it. There will always be desperate sellers, but at a 25K selling price, there is a lot more to the story then a firesale. There will always be "cheap ferraris", but the lesson you are about to learn is there is no such thing...Pay now or pay later. In this case, unfortunately, it is your son who will be paying later. If you are so confident in your purchase. Buy him a 25K 328, and give him a 10K.

I just bought a Perfect 86' 328 for 27,800.00
They are out there, Why not just get him one that is already serviced and he can just maintain it.
Mine is like new, serviced in 07' , checked out PPI with OWM of atlanta....The car runs like a top and I can't Quit driving it........If you look on ebay, you'll see what the market is like by watching the END of the bid. I wouldn't sell mine....but if I was ready to move on...then the market price is what the price is of actual cars Selling...not asking. My Friends think its a New Car..even the seats look great and are origninal. |

Like to hear from you in a few months when the 5-10k repair comes a knockin'. Remember nothing in life is a gimme. I just spent 16k on my 328 to put it in tip top shape. No Ferrari is going to sell for 25k when 16k was spent on service. Therefore the 25k 328 will come a knockin' soon. Inevitable.

Just because the price was attractive doesn't mean the car is headed for a $10K+ service. An educated buyer can find a good 3X8 for a very good price right now, you just have to know what to look for, be diligent and patient, and have cash ready.
I recently bought an exceptionally nice 308 for $20,000 with an engine-out $15,000+ service less than six months prior. There are excellent deals to be had right now. Sounds like the gentleman (mtmilam) made a good buy, and he should be congratulated. |
