If the repair has lasted nearly 30 years and has remained undetected then it must have been pretty well done, so from a reliabilty/operation perspective it's a non issue. However, having paid for a PPI, the owner has an expectation that faults and past repairs are discovered / disclosed. If say a car had been crashed and repaired, you would hope (expect) that a PPI would find evidence of a repair. The issue is wether or not the PPI was carried out thoroughly and what could be expected to be discovered during the course of the PPI. It also depends on what was charged - a one hour "quick look over" could not be expected to reveal an obscure fault, but if they had spent 15 hours on it then it's a different matter. It appears that the PPI did not discover the block repair, and no doubt the arguement will be that owner 1 may not have bought the car knowing it had been repaired, or paid significanlty less for it. This then opens the door to other damages ( cost of rectification ) The issue of past ownership is not relevant, as the PPI was done recently, so the PPI should should have been discovered all faults up to that time. Bottom line, the guy has a case, and the companies doing PPI's must do them thoroughly and issue disclaimers as to what is not covered ( or not do them at all ). M |

Apparently they are now using Lawyers instead of Rats for laboratory experiments in the States.
Reasons given were: There are some things a Rat won’t do. You don’t get as attached to a Lawyer. And there are more Lawyers than Rats. (appologies to RMV) |
