I found out last year that Baldwin used the original Baldwin Ferrari sign to make a series of retro t-shirts. They had top remove the Ferrari name, but I saw it in a shop on a sales guy and freaked out! I contacted them and they were sold out but said they they may make a few extra. I told the very cool rep that I would post here and see if anyone else was interested. They are not cheap at $21 but I think allot of you like me would like one. I cannot imagine why we did not hear of this promotion in 2009!

If you post your size I will pass this on. He was only doing this as a favor to me as I bugged them in about 10 e-mails. I am not getting anything from this but wish I would have won the baldwin sign I think it went for $300 on ebay!!!!! Ill give it about a week and send him the info and if you are truly interested his e-mail.

So they made these last year? I've been keeping an eye on their website's "promotions" page, which lists a whole bunch of stuff that is either free (stickers, pens and such), or for sale (including an illuminated sign at $475... see link below, which has their catalogs in .pdf), but they never showed that T-shirt - which may have been a local distributor thing only.

If it was the later and they'd considering making more, I'd certainly take one (or two...).

Hello all - Kevin Connolly, VP Marketing at Baldwin here. Based upon Rob's persistence and the feedback here, our promo company (Staples Promo Products) is reinstating the tee shirt. It will be like the one Rob showed above, but in black. It won't be available until around mid October, and please note that the shirt does not say Ferrari anywhere; I'm afraid our association with Ferrari ended a long time ago.

I'll post again when it's available, and will provide the catalog number for the shirt and the toll free phone number for Staples.

Thanks for your enthusiasm for Baldwin filters!!

    Thanks for posting....

The tee shirt will be black, and the logo on the back will not be "distressed." I don't think they'll be available for another 2-3 weeks; when they are, I'll post the item number and phone number for Staples Promo Products (this is their deal, and Baldwin doesn't profit from it in any way. The only reason they're putting the shirt back into their line is Rob's persistence!) Thanks for your interest.

    WOW!!! The power of e-mail!!!!

Kevin, there are lots of anecdotal stories about ferrari and Baldwin. Do you have a historian that can give us the historical info and straight truth. Also do you have in your archives any more ferrari Baldwin ads or memorabilia we could see?

    Some of the rumors are:

That Mr. Ferrari & Mr Baldwin were friends.

That Mr Baldwin had a Ferrari and was unhappy with the filter so he made one better.

That Mr Baldwin liked ferraris so much he decided to continue to manufacture a filter for the older models.

That Baldwin was a sponsor at one time.

    This is great news!

    Rob

The shirt will be available in early November. As mentioned previously, it'll be black, and the logo will not be distressed. Price is $10.55

I'll try to upload a picture...

...and will let you all know when it is in stock and will provide a link to the e-Store.

    Thanks for your support!

P.S. I'm checking to see if customers outside the U.S. and Canada will be able to order.

P.P.S. Rob: J.A. Baldwin was indeed a Ferrari owner. I'm not certain, but I think he had a 275GTB4... but some have said it was a Daytona. He kept it in the plant, in an area which is now part of our test lab. (He also had two German Shepherds that he let have free run of the facility at night. There are numerous funny stories about people being terrorized by the dogs. But I digress.) He was definitely a car lover!

J.A. did have a relationship with Enzo Ferrari, but I'm not sure how extensive it was. There's little doubt that J.A. would have tried to develop a bullet proof filter for his car... and other Ferrari owners. There was never a formal sponsorship relationship.

One of these days I'll speak to a few long time employees to learn a bit more about the relationship between Baldwin and Ferrari.
