Alarm led is on all the time.. so remove alarm module (cut open with demel cutting wheel, works perfect).. and find this. They tell you to point it downward to "drain water".. when in reality when the batteries go bad, they're positioned above the board when you point it downward to "drain water".. so the corrosive oxides kill the board. A conspiracy. I can clean this and re-use it right? ;-) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Even if you could find the replacement batteries, you would probably have to catch the depleted battery situation right away. It looks like your alarm battery leaked for some time given that I have seen many other pictures (and my own alarm battery) with much less damage to the board. Perhaps I am not as mechanically gifted as others, but I spent 5 hours (including trips to the hardware store and radio shack)trying to get the external battery setup to work. I got it to work but it would not keep the battery charged. I finally just ordered a new alarm unit from Ricambi and installed it in 15 minutes. The cost to replace the alarm unit every few years is not a major charge, especially since it takes so little time for even a non-DIYer like myself to do it. As far as your question about cleaning up the board, mine was far less corroded and while I cleaned it up, I am suspicious that the board may have been part of the problem why I couldn't get it to stay working. I say just get a new alarm unit and move on. I do agree though that the part is a piece of cr&p.
Actually in rereading your question, perhaps I didn't first get your sarcasm as to whether you can clean the board.
No, you can't clean the board and re-use it. It is ridiculous for Ferrari to have an alarm that is sealed with a battery guaranteed to fail/leak at a replacement cost of $330.
Sorry guys if my sarcasm convoluted the post. It does drive my wife crazy at times.. I tried cleaning it on a whim.. and the silly electronics just fell off. :-( I'll probably just order a new one from ricambi.. Figured it was toast. But... In the interim I'm going to try this one out.. ebay listing # 160423231579 (sorry url was funky) or: http://www.gmpartsgiant.com/components/2006-chevrolet-corvette~alarm-system-anti-theft-1y020590102-ls1m301yy07.html (part #6) and open it, see if the circuitry is identical, and then try it in the car.. I know, I know.. I may kill some VERY sensitive circuitry.. We'll see how it looks inside compared to the original circuit board. If the circuitry is identical and the components identical then I may try it.. what's 20 bucks right? New GM part if it works is 70 Bucks. Not 330. ;-) Will definitely keep everyone updated..
Dr. Doug I agree with you. If I can't find identical at a cheaper price than the heck with it. 330 bucks every few years is worth it for my sweetie. I going to try and see if we can free ourselves from the tyranny of high prices..
Wouldn't surprise me in the least as the factory radio harness is the same as a VW Jetta! I nope this frost hand as I did all of my stereo work and had the new head unit in in ten minutes! Keep us posted on the alarm cross reference
Just adding my own title so I can search for this topic again later when needed Ferrari 360 alarm module siren system replacement aftermarket
Please let us know if the GM part was a direct replacement or if it can be augmented to work. Thanks for the effort. Its always a pleasure to read about replacement parts that can be had without the ferrari tax.
Well, as you guys have noticed in my prior conspiracy theory thread about alarm modules... It appears that.. the alarm module for GM Corvette C6 2005 to 2010, specifically part number Part number 15213135, Corvette C6 Anti Theft Alarm 2005-2010 Appears it Works!!!! 20 bucks on ebay with shipping. I opened it and compared circuit boards.. different. So I figured that I'd glue it together and plop it in and see what happens. What's the worst right? Fuse 74 blows and takes out the rest of the immobilizer, etc. I only tested it a little tonight.. When I cut the power back on, it chirped once with the power coming back on. Car started fine and ran fine. With key fob pressed to lock it beeped once, with unlock it beeped twice. When I cut the power off (main switch) he alarm then went off for about 10 -15 seconds. Not sure if this behavior is characteristic of the normal module.. my 360 is a euro.. but it seems so far that it works. The best part. 70 bucks new. Next time I'll plop it in. Cheers, Curt

SaWeeet! I'm going to order one and just shelf it as it's Only $20-$25 with shipping and if and when it goes out...done! Thanks for the input and link more importantly. One of the So Many Reasons as to why this forum is worth it's weight in gold!
Awesome! Now, did you test to make sure it also immobilized the car when armed? Does it also still disarm with the key code sequence w/o using the fob?
Does the Corvette part say : Made in Australia Robert Bosch F005 VO 0168 NI-MH ? In Europe there's an Opel/Vauxhall Omega part GM 09 231 886 BW that looks very similar but has not to my knowledge been tested
The corvette part does have the NiMh stamping and the batteries are both 3.6V soldered to the board and look the same as some other units we've seen on this site apart. I'll see if I can find the other parts #'s on it tonight.. This GM part number supercedes an earlier part number and that might be identical to the Opal pn.. can't find the site that indicated it.. Have not tested it with the immobilizer nor have I tested it with the manual sequence entering via the key.. unfortunately my car only came with one key and one black fob :-( But.. when you think about it, it's just a siren that responds to a signal from the main alarm module/no current/etc. Unless it alters the circuit condierably, I can't see why it would alter other aspects of the alarm system.. I have been wrong though.. ;-) I'm just elated the red light is now out when she's running. Will assess more this weekend..
Greyboxer, found the corvette site... http://www.gmpartsgiant.com/components/2007-chevrolet-corvette~alarm-system-anti-theft-1y020590102-ls9mz61yy87.html it seems that GM part number 25708573 was replaced wiuth this one.. didn't do search yet.. but if the Opel part number is equivalent to 25708573 for 2007 corvettes.. then should be a go.. Btw, thanks moderator for combining this thread with last.. was so excited I wanted a new title..
I ordere mine from Ebay a Few weeks ago, I paid 40.87 with shipping and I just changed it today. It works like a charm. Both parts are made by bosh but part numbers are different. Either way it works and I am very gratefull...
Curt- Great idea. The latest Ferrari part has a different battery from the 1999 one that leaked, but it is still $330. Incidentally, all the logic for the fob IDs and PIN is in the Alarm ECU, so changing the siren will not affect that. That portion of the system works independently of the siren and will work fine, except for the chirps, even if the siren is completely shot. Taz Terry Phillips
Taz. I figured that there was minimal communication between them. Thank you for confirming it is merely a noisemaker.. I also presume that we can extrapolate this cheapie fix to f355 (1996+), 456, 550 and 575 cars... I can see it now.. a run on corvette alarm sirens caused by ferrari owners driving prices sky high! (chuckle) Speaking of key fobs.. is the gentleman in france the only person to clone a fob (I need to clone my euro) or is there someone stateside that can clone a fob.. Curt
