I know, thing sounds really stupid but when I received my car last week, the dealer forgot to put owner's manual in the car. Today I opened the gas lid and saw no lid. Moreover, there is an inlet where for the gas nozzle but it appears to be blocked. I put my finger in and it wouldn't open the hole. How in the hell are you suppose to put gas in? I hate to hit the gas station tomorrow and people will stare at me as if I stole the car, cuz i cannot even figure out how to put gas. thanks!

Gas nozzle goes in a bit, slide up and the nozzle should go in further.

I will admit I had an embarrassing time trying to "find the hole" once way back when....

LONG before I owned a Ferrari, I might add...

I found the hole fine the first time ;) but it still took me about 15 mins to get the car full. The pump will keep clicking off if the nozzle isn't inserted correctly. I had to pull back the sleeve on the nozzle, then insert. I actually held the sleeve back till the car filled up. Kind of annoying

The nozzle has got to be vertical. Some pumps are sensitive to back pressure, so that if the nozzle is in too far, it will shut off.

And yup if the nozzle is too far out, it won't pump gas unless you pull on the sleeve a bit.
    BTTT.

I have to pull the sleeve almost every time. Seems this is mostly a california problem and is very annoying.

Is this difficulty a result of some fancy airlock mechanism? It sounds NUTS to me...

Just push it in easy :)

I would have been confused too - but fortunately - my 2010 Ford F150 had the same set up - so I was already trained.. :)

Sounds like a nightmare to me.

Can somebody explain what's going on here? I mean, what's wrong with the system on my 360?

Cars are going to gas cap free systems, drove a new Lincoln MKX the other day and it had the same type of thing to fill it as the 458.

458's don't need gas, you just take it back to the dealer when the little light comes on and have them fix it. :)

The dealer should take you to the gas station when you pick up the car and show you how to fill it up...and he should comp it for you of course.
