All, A friend here in Fredericksburg, VA recently purchased a Viper GTS and is now actively involved in the Viper Club. He is hosting an event on 6 August and has asked me to see if we can get some Ferraris involved. Fredericksburg is midway between DC and Richmond (about 50 miles from each). Here are the details. We will start at 4pm on Saturday 6 August from the Exit 133 commuter lot off I95. Simply take I95 to exit 133, Route 17 towards Warrenton, and once you're on 17 I believe it is 3 lights to a left turn lane to the commuter lot. We'll have a table with cheap snacks (chips/salsa/soda, etc), and at about 5:00-5:15pm we'll embark on about a 75 minute drive through some nice backroads in Stafford and King George Counties. On the way back into Fredericksburg, we'll stop at Carl's (a frozen custard stand which has been featured on PBS and a couple magazines as one of the ten best ice cream stands in the country). We'll finish at the bi-weekly Hot Rod cruise/show at the Five and Diner in Central Park (just off Exit 130). This bi-weekly show is usually filled with the local muscle cars/etc., but I usually bring my '38 Rolls Phantom III just because it is so obnoxiously different. I have brought my 308 before, and the organizers of the event are expecting several Vipers and Ferraris for that night. If you're interested, please RSVP to me (). Obviously no cost unless you want some ice cream (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED). Most of us don't actually take the time to eat dinner at the cruise night, but it is right there, along with several other restaurants (everything from McD's, Bonefish Grill, Carrabas, Cheeseburger in Paradise, a Chinese/Thai/Sushi buffet, and much more). -Matt Boyd
I'll have to change my name now. I figured it would take a while for someone to get it. The whole RUSH=red barchetta thing. You are good eastern shore guy!!!
Now this is something a lot of people in Fredericksburg won't have seen before. I'll join you guys at some leg of the trip. Which backroads around the area are you taking? I too would recommend anyone attending get ice cream at Carl's, depending on the line.
Dean, We'll be starting out where I mentioned on 17, head down towards Route 1, continue straight on Butler Road until it turns to 218. Follow 218 all the way to the end. We're either going to then turn right on 206 and take it to 3 back into town, or we're going to follow 206 to 609 (Indiantown Rd) in King George and follow that right back to 218 and take 218 back into town. 218 is a nice road...are you familiar? I hope you can make it. I haven't hosted a Ferrari event in Fredericksburg in a while, but hopefully we'll have a good turnout. I've had an RSVP for a '04 Maserati, Kevin Sims mentioned he'll try to get some Lambos. I hope to get more Ferraris than just mine out here! Not sure how many Vipers my friend (also Matt) has had RSVP. -matt
Fur sure! My ex-wife lives there: Cousin Daisey. She's finer than a new pair of snow tires. Yeehaw! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's what I've got so far: 6 x Viper from the Viper club My 308 and I'll try to get my '39 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Limo (v12) out to the show Bob Tyldsley in 308 Scott Carpenter in 308 or Pantera (which one, Scott?) Tony Manning '04 Maserati coupe MDShore348 - maybe 285Ferrari - maybe DMClark - car? IROC_DIS - motorcycle, maybe ferrariman2004 - car? MK - copperhead? holminator - black/black '05 911 George Parker - Mazda Speed Miata There might be others that have RSVP'ed. Add your name to the list or correct what I have above, please. And DKASSIR, I certainly wouldn't make the trip solely based on the prospects of women in Fredericksburg. At least not at this car show! -matt
Sorry I wanted to say that one more time ---I have a 328 GTS!!!!!!!!!!! Damn I like saying that---Finally
Any of you guys that are going to be coming down Rt. 301 south to the Harry Nice bridge and into VA, send me a PM --we can meet up and caravan down from Charles Co. Probably be a 30 min. ride. We can meet at the Sheriff's Office parking lot on Rt. 301 in LaPlata. Use the bathroom, get a drink before heading down.
Hey all. I'm Matt Jackson host of the event and friend of Matt Boyd. Any questions you have please feel free to ask me. It sure will be awesome to have all these exotics out there. As DMClark said it's not something the Fredericksburg folks are used to seeing. Also, to answer your question 285Ferrari, the original plan was to only go to the intersection of 206 and 218. If not familiar that's about 1.5 miles west(?) off 301 and about 2 miles from the nice bridge down 301. However, I believe a supercharged Viper silver and blue will be coming down 301 from Bowie MD. If I can arrange it I'll have you guys meet. Otherwise the best thing is to stop at the intersection of 206 and 218 and wait for us. There is a cleared area where you can park, just watch for the dirt and rocks. For more info see this website. http://members.cox.net/viperpage/cruise1.html Thanks to all that can come out. I love Ferrari's and other exotics and can't wait to see some of yours.
Ok you lost me--the original plan said you guys were leaving the exit 133 commuter lot at 4pm--That is not the case now. If not where does the event start and what time. A few of us were going to meet on our side of the bridge and drive down to that lot , getting there a little before 4pm. Now your talking about 206 and 218 and waiting for you guys---Little confused now.
No, no change in plan. All batboy was suggesting is that if you don't want to come all the way to Fredericksburg, only to drive back almost to Dahlgren, then back to Fredericksburg, then back home, that you could meet us en route. Unless you're pressed for time, I'd suggest you go ahead an meet us at the commuter lot. That will give you even an extra sweep up 218....are you familiar with that road? Either way, no plans are changed. -matt
And DKASSIR, I certainly wouldn't make the trip solely based on the prospects of women in Fredericksburg. At least not at this car show! -matt
and not even any "prettyboys" ? ....haha
OK --Now me understands--Yea that would be a little easier-What time do you guys think you will get up to 206/218? I guess if you leave down there around 4pm --maybe 4:30-4:45pm or so?? At that point we can jump in with you and finish the drive--That sounds good!!
