Anyone know how many McClarens were made? est would help as well
1st of all thanks for the spelling lesson... 2nd Sorry for interupting your forum with such an outrageous question. For a second there I thought the whole idea of the chat was to spread info.
You are not in the wrong forum, just the wrong section: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=65 This can be a tough crowd, but anyone who likes Mclarens , or even Mcclarens, enough to ask questions about them is welcome here as far as I am concerned.
I'm sick and tired of guys claiming : Mc Laren is the world's best just because is ridiculously expensive just because it was made in very low numbers (about 100) if it was produced in larger numbers then it would be just another great 90's supercar IMHO
I never felt it was an amazing car until I read the book. But now I'm supremely convinced that it is truly an awesome vehicle, and one of the few modern cars that actually does mean something special. --Dan
The build quality on the F1 makes an Enzo look like a Lada. It really is the ultimate supercar in which no corner was cut in the design and manufacture. In the book the designers made a gearnob out of some very dark wood. Gordon Murray thought it was the perfect size weight and shape but then found out that the wood was from a non sustainable source so he had a synthetic material developed which was the same weight and had the same feel as the wood. Can you imagine the Italians going to those lengths? Not just to do with exclusivity either. Only 40 Zondas have been made and probably fewer Veyrons will ever be sold but neither of them are held in such high esteem as the F1
The two things i don't like about the Mac is that it has way too much body lean and the looks aren't my favorite.

That ad is from a long time ago. The car was repainted as Papaya Orange and sold by Maranello Motorsport in Australia. They were asking 1.16 million Euros. http://maranellomotorsport.com/displayCarSold.asp?c=1 fastgman, that list you put up doesn't include XP1 LM prototype, the 5 LMs, the 056 XP GT longtail road car prototype, or the 2 street versions of it.
Is it true that Murray lost money on every single car he made, because he put that much time and money into each, individual car...?
Murray didn't lose anything unless it was his contact lens when he was leaning over the car shining the gold foil. Murray worked for McLaren, and I'm sure he was paid handsomely for all that he did.
