Hey guys. I don't know what's going on. I changed out my battery and still don't have any crank from the engine at all I bought a optima 34 no R BUT it fits just fine. I had to just turn the battery around so the connectors are on the correct location.

I'm going mad about this problem. I just want to take it for a cool drive and give it a nice wash. But can't seem to get it up and running.

Is there anything I can try to do before sending it over to a shop for a diagnostic?

Please help guys. I feel worthless right now.

Also. I don't know if this makes a difference but the brake is pretty stiff. Usually it will allow me to press down a the pedal would go down a bit but now it's pretty firm.

Just thought I would add that.

    Thanks

Something like happened to me a few weeks ago. I don't think it has anything to do worth you changing the battery, or doing it wrong. Try pressing real hard on the brake pedal. I mean stand on the thing and see if this will help start the engine. I think your breaks are locked.

160lbs of pressure to the brake and nothing. :(

I'm just sitting in it waiting for it to start but nothing is happening. Lol

I'm starting to think that maybe I blew my ecu or hopefully just a fuse as before I shaped out the battery, I tried jumping my old one and heard a bunch of clicking coming from under the drivers dash area?

Is there a fuse for the start button if so where can I find it?

Is the brake pedal moving, or is all the force you are using still not moving it say at least an inch? Car will not start due to an interlock with the pedal if not moved enough to release switch?

I pressed pretty firmly with all my might and I would say it did move, but it took a lot of pressure to get it to move.

I will say that when I tried to jump start the car I gave it a few cranks and there WAS activity from the start button and it allowed the engine to get the spark.

im not really in the mood to spend unnecessary funds for something so ridiculous..im hoping a dead battery jump start didn't just cost me $2,000 + for an ecu or what ever else I hope I didn't screw up. hopefully it will be something small and easy :)

Did you turn off the battery disconnect switch before R&Ring the battery? Also, if you tried jump starting her, no telling what electronic parts you may have made very unhappy doing that. Sounds like you need professional help. Hopefully can be quickly diagnosed and remedied. May just be a bad Optima, not all that unusual. Check for voltage up around 12.6 or 12.7 volts.

Hi Mike, thanks for your input, it was a real head scratcher, I checked all fuses, relays etc. In the end I had the car recovered Free of charge by Ferrari who took it to my local dealership who within an hour found that an after market tracker which we dont use had failed and completely imobilised the engine. Couldn't believe it.

I'm just super happy it wasnt anything worse.

Final bill £420 inc Vat to diagnose and sort it out.
    Money well spent.
