HI, having just purchased a 2001 360 spider, i am slowly working through all the teething problems the previous owner was less dilligent to sort.
In this case the drivers side wingmirror is wobbly right on the pivot point of the mirror, i found this out when i closed the mirror and a piece of credit card fell out (obviously used as packing. is there a rubber grommet or something missing between the joint. there are 3 screws underneath that dont seem loose. Any help would be much appreciated! |

There is no rubber grommet missing. It's the pivot mechanism that is loose inside (three more screws) and is allowing the mechanism to move about because the holes the screws are in are slightly oversized.
If your remove the three torx screws underneath, and allow the swivel to come apart you will see what I mean. The torx screw nearest to the door skin is difficult and you will need to use either a bit and small rachet, or a bent torx drive. When you have it apart you will see a trianglular shaped black plate, with there more screws securing it. These simply require adequate tightening. Hang a towel or a cotton sheet down around the door (trap the top of it over the top of the door and close it) to prevent accidental damage to the paintwork. |
