I actually received these as a word attachment in an email from a friend of mine. Not sure who the author(s) is(are), but my understanding is that the list is a compilation from a lot of different inputs.

Cheers,

d

Disagree with a couple: Luger's is THE place for aged porterhouse. The Post House is one of many, but very much a better than average, no better steak. (In Manhattan, try Wolfgang's or Del Frisco's). The best Italian in Brooklyn is arguable, but i guarantee you that the Queen has better food than Marco Polo, even if the latter feels more like you've walked onto a movie set for the Godfather Part IV.

Also, if you like real Szchuan food, Wu Liang Ye in the City is fantastic, not a frenchified chinese like most of the high end ones.

Thanks for the list, though. There are some places (just a few!) i haven't tried, but will.

My favorite pizza: Trattoria Del Arte, which is a full fledged (and excellent) restaurant in proximity to Carnegie Hall. You will love me for this one. Get a selection of antipasti, and a pie for each of you. The BEST!

Anyone ever tried The Grammercy Tavern in Grammercy Park? A little on the pricey side but I was very impressed.

Isn't Haveli the French/Indian fusion restaurant or am I getting muddled up?
