Anyone have old 328 distributor caps?

I'm trying to figure out if I can rebuilt the caps, but don't want to experiment with mine since they still work. Anyone willing to volunteer some caps? I'll pay for shipping and I can ship them back to you if I get them rebuilt. Anyone?

Gene

I may try to do something with the posts, but what I really want to figure out first is how to change the coil wire. One of my coil wires still has a bit high resistance and I want to change it. I can see how to change the wire, but there is a small spring that connects the wire set screw to the button that touches the middle of the rotor. On mine, that spring needs replacement but I didn't want to experiment for fear of having to buy a new cap for just that spring.

I would like to hear from some experts on how the posts being worn (farther for electricity to travel from rotor to post) effects normal operation. Looking at mine they are worn, probably to the tune of 30/1000th of an inch. I'm sure it has an effect, but $750 worth?

I thought about trying to refurbish my caps, I did replace the springs and the brush in the center, but thats it. I would like to try and change the poles, I figure that i will have to make a jig to ensure that they are central and that the air gaps are correct.
Good luck

Thank you very much for the information. Rifledriver, in your opinion, are the posts being worn on the distributor cap a big deal? Thanks!
