Schumacher to team up with Brawn, buy the Scuderia Toro Rosso Team???

I am not sure if there is any truth to this or not but it sounds interesting.

Schumacher 'keen on Toro Rosso deal'

Michael Schumacher is reportedly on the brink of a multi-million-pound buy-out of the Scuderia Toro Rosso team.

According to the Gulf News, the seven-time world champion is keen to own a F1 team and has targeted Toro Rosso as the outfit he would like to purchase.
The report claims that Schumacher 'wants to link up with Ross Brawn, the mastermind behind all his world titles, to form F1's dream team.

'The ex-Ferrari driver and team technical wizard Brawn, now enjoying a world-wandering sabbatical, have already formulated a plan to re-enter F1 as big-time bosses'.

"Formula One has given me everything - and I'd like to give something back," the newspaper reported Schumacher as having said.

The German's agent Willi Weber added fuel to the reports by saying: "It is only one thought - but I can see the sense in Michael buying out an existing operation."

One person who would love to see Schumacher step into the role of team owner is Bernie Ecclestone.

The F1 supremo said: "Michael has been such a fantastic figure, a real legend, he would be welcome back to the scene in any capacity. He could count on my help anytime."

I think this would be fantastic and I would love to see that happen...

...however my crystal ball shows me a different scenario for Brawn and MS.

Which is, of course, *exactly* the reason it may very well be true :-)

Personally, I'd love to see it happen. OK, Prost "struggled", but Sir Jackie didn't do too badly.....

One win isn't much to show for.

Drivers normally don't make great race team managers. IIRC McLaren being the exception. Pretty much everybody else failed.

But MS and Mateschitz have so much money, they could take on that risk and run it for several years without getting hurt too badly.

I think it will happen. Did anyone honestly think that MS woul become a house husband and sit there and push the kids on the swing?

I know AP's tenure as an owner wasn't successful, but with the right people it could be successful...

yea, but i think the whole idea of MS retiring is to stay away from the grid. i have my doubts this will happen.

And Michael Jordan. Stay away, Michael. Michael raced cars. He didn't design them. He didn't build them. He didn't market them. Apparently when he says he'd like to give something back to Formula 1, he's referring to the hundreds of millions of dollars he earned as a driver.

Exactly. He has mentioned in an interview that he doesnt want to do a JeanTodt like job worrying night and day over the day to day issues of running an F1 team.

Imagine if Michael bought the team and brought Jackie Stewart and Niki Lauda and JV out of Retirement to race the cars. It would be the three stoogies on wheels. It would be complete insanity!

I'd have to respectfully disagree on that point - To many people he *was* Ferrari for the past few years. Furthermore, I reckon sponsors will be knocking his door down if he's prepared to be the "public face" of the team - Sure, he doesn't want the stress of a JT style position, but what a PR win for some deep pocketed sponsor.

And, as per the "F1 driver feedback?" thread herein, what an asset to have in your debrief sessions - I reckon he'd enjoy that task.

Interesting point: I believe that was part of the original plan when Ferrari hired MS as "special consultant" and it looks he did just that in some of the winter test sessions, but it is doubtful that his input was much welcome: I read a brief interview with Mark Webber who thinks that idea is just an absolute insult to his successor and he (Webber) would hate nothing more than having the "nanny" sit in. He compared it to going out with your girlfriend while your ex girlfriend joins the party.

From what I'm seeing so far, if MS' feedback was ever the plan, it definitely has died by now.
