Proximity of Maranello Motors & Top Gear to Park Lane Hotel

Hello UK F-chatters,

As some of you may recall, I posted a month or so ago about the location of F-dealers in London, and I received many helpful hints. Unfortunately, my time in the UK at the time was limited & quickly consumed on that trip.

But I'm heading back across the pond in a couple of days to London, and then over to Paris for a bit...

I'll being staying @ the Park Lane in central London, and was wondering how far that is from Maranello Motors, and from where Top Gear is filmed (I'm a big fan), and also any interesting F-stuff in Central London, near my hotel, or somewhere fairly easily accessible..

Cheers, & Thanks in advance...

Hi there, Top Gear was filmed at Dunsfold Park:

If Top Gear gets renewed then they will have to move from Dunsfold because it's being flattened to make way for a retail park or something.

Clarkson doesn't seem to be getting along with his BBC bosses at the moment, but then again it could be a good salary negotiation ploy!!

Anyway, it's a bit of a trek to say the least from Park Lane to Dunsfold Park (unless you go by helicopter )

You often see Ferraris parked just outside the Dorchester (is that where you are staying??), and there are some nice showrooms (not Ferrari though) in Park Lane. I think the nearest showroom from where you are is in South Kensington (HR Owen in Old Brompton Road). There's also a showroom in Berkeley Sq (I can't remember the name but I saw an Enzo there some time ago). Have a nice trip!

I was at Dunsfold yesterday dropping off the GT4 to Steve Moody's for some work. Not only did I get half a lap of the Top Gear track, there were a lot of rare and specialist cars at various businesses located there.

A bit difficult to get to from central london though.

HR Owen is just a short tube ride away. Get on at Hyde park corner, picadilly line, head west to South Kensington, HR Owen is on the Old Brompton road, about a 5 min walk from south kensington tube. You will also walk past Lamborghini London. Maranello Sales is a long way, probably about 45 mins in a car. As some said, try around Berkeley Square, lots of car dealers around there. McLaren used to have a show room on Park Lane, although not sure it is still there.

As of last summer - no. I don't remember; it was either up for rent or Harrod's Real Estate there then.

They opened at the back end of last year, but the official opening was the end of Jan this year - a great night with Alain de Cadenet (broken foot and all), Tony Jardine, Eddie Jordan, Fat Celeb Chef (cant remember his name) and Martin Brundle all there!!!!
