Wife wins, looks like I’m selling the Mondi

She found a MB 600SL she wants. I’m sure I’ll take some ribbing on this but hey, at least its 12 cylinders and a convertible.

Anyway, I’ll be posting the Mondi for sale shortly so just wanted to let those that know the car know first. Here’s the specifics:

• US model 1982 Mondial, Silver / Maroon, 36,xxx miles, SN# ZFFAD08A4C0040903
• 30k major done on 5/25/05 at 32k
• Car was last inspected in October and it passed emission inspection easily
• All manuals (plus some shop manuals), tools and jack
• Original unmolested condition, never hit or repainted
• Solid as a rock! Not a single drip or leak.
• Fusebox is solid. None of the usual electrical gremlins with the fuel pump.
• New Superformance wheels with Avon M500 high performance tires. The wheels maintain the original look and let you use modern rubber of 225/55 – 16. I have the original wheels with Michelin TRX tires as well.
• Custom cover
• Clean Carfax
• For the right enthusiast I’ll include some of the original literature, sales brochures, and magazine articles that I have been collecting

Those of you that have seen the car know it looks great. It is in great condition and well maintained. All the smog equipment is still intact, but the car is now at 25 years so … (I actually have a full set of Scott’s Air Injection Plugs that I’ll throw in for those that want to de-smog it.)

PM me if your interested. I’m asking $25k. I have 3 dealer offers to by the car outright for not much less, so I’m fairly firm on the price.

Hey Sam, how about another Mondi 8 for the wife (or son!)

Doug

ARE YOU KIDDING?! Wow! I am NOT letting my wife know about this.
Oh well, that is one of the nicest Mondials out there. Hope you get your price!

Your Mondi's a keeper! Try doing that with the MB.

I was considering a silver 3.2 Coupe a few months ago back but it didn't happen.

Yea, I know. But it should only be temporary. Once the kids are out of college (I have 2 in private university now, a third on the way which means I'm paying for a nice Mondi T 12 times over) there will be time to get a nice Mondial T cab.

Yeah I know but i couldn't afford to buy it or keep it running. Not to mention I'm going to college soon and I'm already spending money on my car.

Keep up the wise cracks and he may not fund your college passage and life as a garbalogist(aka sanitation engineer) isn't any fun.

Doug,

Lord knows I am a Mercedes guy but giving up the Mondi for a 600SL? Is this what we get when we let the women do the thinking?

Your Mondi is by far the nicest one I've seen in a long long time. The color combo and mechanical quality of your car put it in a unique category. $25,000 for your car is a great deal. There are few cars out there that will not make a quick $3000 -$5000 meal out of the wallet. Your car is already sorted through and looks fantastic in silver metallic. WHAT A DEAL for the right person!

Will she still let you stop by on Sunday mornings with the Benz - or are you grounded too? ;-)
