First pictures from Le Mans

Top row: Rollcentre Racing's Pescarolo 01 Judd, Charouz Racing's Lola B07/10 Judd

Red LMP is Swiss Spirit's Lola B07/10 Audi (twin-turbo R8 motor...three year deal)

Bottom blue LMP is Zytek 07S/2 with driver Adrián Fernandez

Yellow LMP is Dome S101.5 (Japanese chassis)

I'm not sure about that. There weren't any big wrecks in the Utah race.

Convers MenX team's black Prodrive 550 Maranello will likely be the last Le Mans outing for a Ferrari in GT1

Test Day is 3 June. Suppose to be on planetlemans live. Test day only so can't really form valid opinions on how the cars will actually do in qualifying and in the race. Dr. Ullrich already announced that for Audi timing is not the factor in test day. Looks like Tom Kristensen won't be driving with Allan and Dindo this year according to an Autosport article this morning as it listed his replacement for Brands Hatch DTM which follows Le Mans. Ekstrom would be the replacement for him (Ekstrom is also participating in the Test Day).

The 430's and Porsches should be a good show in GT2. Astons will be back at Le Mans against the works Corvette along with the Saleen - anyone's game there but pulling Aston here.

GT1 cars aren't cheap. Acemco Motorsports had a $5 million budget in 2005 per Terry Borcheller.

The new 911 GT3 RSR is around $400,000.

I think its like $340k before factory taxes. Figure about $500k after shipping/misc and necessary spares.

One of AWE Tuning's clients is Team Trans Sport and that team has recently taken delivery of a new 997.

The following is from Mike of AWE Tuning:

Chassis #916 traveled via 747-400F from Germany to Atlanta on Polar Air Cargo. Since the 996RSR was dimensionally smaller, it could fly in what is known as a "Combi" or combination freight/passenger plane, which has a lower cargo deck that takes large items. With the added height and width of the 997, the car now has to fly in a pure freighter.

The car purchase would be the smallest cost in an effort for a year...

Why is it that only the Peugeot is the only LMP car to have a hard-top? Why hasn't Audi made one for their car? It should provide better aerodynamic efficiency. And what about if it rains? The watter would certainly add a few more pounds to the Audi, whereas the Peugeot would simply shed off the water droplets.

Lola has a new B08/60 LMP1 coupe coming. It is the first close-cockpit LMP car from Lola since the early 1990s.
