Ferrari Caravan down to Concorso Hartford?

Weather looks good for the JUne 17 Concurso, they need 100 cars to show for some charity bonus to kick in. 82 cars signed up, so it is close. I would be leaving from the Pike/128 sometime in the AM

Blue Mondial Cab ( room for passengers )

Most times when I caravan, there's a race. Same as "there's no such thing as sail boats sailing together. If there's two , it's a race. Some times a caravan works out ok. There's usually a couple of rabbits that jump ahead at insane speeds for highway driving. That let's the rest of us go along at a pretty good clip with no worries. Are you planning on race or a caravan?

Mondial and Race is the same sentence? wow that is a compliment hehe I agree, I avoid caravans when I am driving in a fast flashy car, which the Mondial is not

I just think it is a good idea to have some extra eyes out there if someone has a breakdown, even if the support vehicles have no additional space available.

If your not comfortable with it, I totally understand. It just takes one person to misbehave and everyone can get pulled over. If it's a good bunch of guys who dont give in to temptation, it can be safe from the police.

I am considering going. I email the guy mentioned on the FCA site with no response yet. Is there a web page or something with full details?

I figure meetup on the Pike in the mid morning, maybe the rest stop between Natick and Framingham exits Westbound.

I have the web link to register, I just usually pay at the event

i guess we should get there in time for the VIP lunch, any idea where it is and how it fits in with the car show? simultaneous?

I have no idea if the lunch is really optional, I am not a big hors doerves fan. I guess there is no drive up registration fee, it just says 50 for online

Logistic question...

How do you drive your car down and not have it get dirty on the way? I don't want to show a dity car. I guess I can put a good coat of wax on and then dust and spot clean. What do people normally do?

No points deduction for minor road stuff - the Concours judging is all about "original", as it left the factory.

From the FCA Concours judging guidelines:

The key purpose of the concours is to promote the preservation of the Ferrari in its original state. Therefore, the primary focus of the judging will be on originality, authenticity and condition with minor emphasis on cosmetics. Deductions will be made for over-restoration; extravagance detracts from originality. Applied patina is discouraged. Spyder conversions and unauthorized rebodies are ineligible for judging. Over-cleanliness is unnecessary; some slight road dust and wear is to be expected. Ferraris are meant to be driven.

Thanks! Good to know. I am in. Now to see if I am too late.

Are there are "secret handshakes" so FChatters can know one another?

Best,
-Tom

Judging?? I just want my car to BE there! But I won't be racing / caravaning with you guys if I make it, coming in from the other direction...

I think we should make up some little cards with the Fchat name on them, put them on the seat or something. Same problem with my STi online friends, nobody knows real names just the forum names!

And my other car is an Outback too! Yeah the STi is incredible all year long, an absolute blast in snow cross events. I got the clutch in the 355, so as long as the road test goes ok today I'm there.

Sorry guys, I'm out due to rain, bad trx tires, and I gotta pick up a spare tranny in jersey. It would look odd in the back seat of the Mondi... hope you guys hit 100 cars
