Where do you enjoy your Ferrari most?

Just out of curiosity, where do you guys enjoy driving your Ferrari most?

1. On fast, sweeping A roads, loads of overtaking opps. High sustained average speed.
2. On more twisty A roads, good average speed, but some slower corners.
3. On a twisty, but slower average speed B road. Challenging and bumpy.
4. Cruising in towns/cities

I like '2' and '3' personally.

Robert.

6. Driving along a nice road in your daily runabout, thinking to yourself, "God, I wish I were driving my Ferrari right now", the hunkering down in your seat a bit, and pretending you are!

....or is it just me who fantasises about driving his own car?

For me it is:

1) On the 'D' roads in France, where there is far less traffic and there are no hedges or walls, so you can see round the bends

2) Driving through Central London, roof off, about 5.00am on a summers morning, just as the sun comes up, listening to the noise echoing off the buildings - sad but true

I would have to say, faster, sweeping A roads and motorways. After driving up Stelvio in Switzerland last month, I really didn't enjoy the tight hairpins at all. Ferrari's are not good cars for changing gear in to really attack those bends (I'll take an Escort MkII with quickshift anyday over a 355 for that).

Don't like driving mine in town much. The car is fine, but too many people stare and you know what they are thinking, i.e. "what a w@nker".

Oh yeah - and I do like tunnels!!!!

I can second that. First week I got the car I took it over to show my mate in Ramsey.
Went flying round Windy Corner at about 90 mph and got 150mph down the straight. Fastest speed ever in my car and it was all legal

Re Isle of Man... I would love to visit sometime.

What is the deal with the 'furious driving' (?) charge the police can levy at you?

How do they decide if your speed is too fast for the conditions?

Robert.

Mmmmmm,

That'd be the mother of all driveouts!

BTW Does anyone know if they have any rules about filming on the open road?

Seacats leave from Liverpool for Douglas, which I make about 3 hrs drive from South Oxon... Defo. a possibility for a long weekend drive-out!

Dunno about filming on the open road. I assume that as long as the driver is in full control of the car, and the camera not obscuring the driver's view, you'd be fine...

I'm sure we could arrange a ride for a very appreciative "Mike and Paul".

Two years ago, i had some mods done to a colin edwards replica SP2. On the second lap of the course I overtook a colleague of mike and paul, on his "on duty" m/cycle entering a fast left hander called "Keppel Gate".
Two weeks later i saw steve, who reported "Fu<k Me ! you came past us at 147 mph...nice line though".
It just couldn't happen anywhere else in the world, would it ?
toodle pip...d

No real rules as such.
Contrary to popular belief, i do have a few pals....one of which is peter duke, the MD at "Duke Video". (Peter was actually interested in joining me for the trip to that test track where a few of you considered producing an Fchat dvd)
Another is "gaz" who engineers the bike/car onboard cameras for Greenlight TV....I wonder if he has come (pls excuse the pun) across one of your bummer mounted cameras stig ?

We did try to organise a weekend over here during the summer but it was difficult to agree dates etc, where all interested parties were available....perhaps we should try again for 2005 ???

checkout i) www.gov.im/tourism/ and click on TT & Motorsport .... you may guage for yourself how pro motorsport the local authorities are over here
ii) "Isle of man weekend 2004" in the Fchat search facility.

cheers for now, d

Yeah, but in Hull, a feckin brave one

I'd go for nice open b roads with a few twists... then down through France and over the Pyrenees... then into town with lots of impressionable young ladies outside the bars with lots of parking space right outside.... shallow? Me?... as a paddling pool!

I love nice twisties but the absolute best place in the word must be the Nordscleife (Nurburgring). It is the ultimate, no limts, road circuit. Otherwise Brands, Spa and Donnington, in that order.
