Another great drive we may consider....

I have taken this one my motorcycle, and took my Ferrari up there yesterday...and it was fantastic

Going north on the 15fwy, like you are going to hiway 2 through Wrightwood, you get off on Sierra ave. Turn left and jump on old cajon rd.

This has long sweeping turns. It is so fast and wonderful, and runs north along the 15 fwy, winding thru Glen Helen near blockbuster pavillion.

You then re-join the 15fwy for a couple miles, then take the 138 a couple miles to Lone Pine rd...the back way to get to Wrightwood.

Go to breakfast and go back. For the adventurous...you can finish the trip and take hwy 2 all the way to Glendale and stop at Newcomb Ranch halfway for great eyecandy/crotch rocket / etc

(excuse any small mistakes on spellings/names...I'm doing this on the fly)

Sounds like a good route, probably can only do it for another month or two though before the ice hits in the mornings. Possibly dump out angeles crest in La Canada.

Kevin,
Sounds like a fun drive... you'll have to map it out for me in detail sometime... might be fun to do it before or after the winter... but not during! (could be kind of cold!). Man, you really drive!

Kevin,

This is a fun route. I've done it from the opposite end, from the 2 to the 15.

I'd extend a few cautions.

Watch out for fallen rock at higher elevations. The high winds tend to blow a lot of it on the route.

Don't run this on Sunday. Too many cycle riders and CHP. Also have to agree about the ice warnings in the early AM/ late PM during winter.

That sounds like a good run. We usually come from the other way over Angeles Crest, and it can get rocky and bikey.

You can also go east on the 138 to the 173 and then up through Hesperia, then across to Pearblossom highway, and then we go west to Lancaster and then up and over and drop back down into La Canada.

That east 138/173 combo has some great twisty bits but the road surface is very good IIRC although I think it is a bit banged up coming into Hesperia but you're in suburbs so not flying at that point anyway.

Cheers
Kevin

Yup...I will PM you back...it was a great time.

On the drive...

Taking the entire trip on hiway 2 would be a blast, but a looooong day.

I am up for anything. I would create the map but don't know how technically (sorry!) But even just the short drive to Wrightwood would be cool.

My fav part is along the 15fwy... so cool. And desolate.

Try looking around on this site.

Cool Dave...

I found out the 15fwy is narrowed for roadwork for 30 days...making it messy. This according to a buddy that lives in Wrightwood.

I may make a mad dash up there and take a peak peak tomorrow on the MV. I need a break, man...............

So what do you mean by air cover?????

That's not too far from where I live. Might have to take the Ninja up there soon.
