Exotics in the Outback - Final Roll Call

the webpage (won't be updated until wed 6th July)

okay people, let's get a final indication of interest for this event so we can call it as go/no-go for launch. we'll set a deadline of FRIDAY 8th July to say whether it's gonna happen or not so we can full-on plan stuff.

i understand some of the romance of the original idea has gone in the last month, but i'm here to shake the pom-poms and see if we can get this thing's heart started again... CLEAR!!!

okay, so what i'm asking for here is a solid indication as to whether you will commit to attend IF the event happens, and if you have any stipulations for what would be required for your attendance... # of exotics, MOTOR mag involvement, pre-arranged stuff... tell us what.

for simplicity's sake i'll just update this thread initially. if you're listed here either post here or PM/email me, or i'll bug you within a day or two, if you've mentioned even a hint of interest you're still listed here in case. if you're not listed but think it's possible for you now is the time to do your 'i am Spartacus' routine.

date: AUGUST Fri 5-Mon 8

POSSIBLE PARTICIPANTS WE NEED FINAL WORD FROM: (just that you are in if it happens, or out either way)

Lamborghini Gallardo --- mhh
Lamborghini Murcielago - Neville
Ferrari 550 ------------ StephenS
Ferrari 360 Spyder ----- Gekko
Ferrari 360 CS --------- scud
Porsche GT2 ------------ scud
Lotus Esprit S4s ------- andecorp
Honda NSX -------------- Les
Ferrari 430 ------------ AHG
Porsche 996 Turbo ------ Ted
Ferrari 308 ------------ Tojo
Ferrari 348 ------------ Joe
Ford GT40 -------------- Al
Subaru WRX ------------- Jeremy
Nissan 350Z ------------ Iggy Type R
Subaru WRX Wagon ------- PhatDiablo's mate
Lamborghini Diablo ----- Michael
Ferrari F40 ------------ Gil Matthews (surely there's a chance )
Ferrari 360 Spyder ----- Lleyton Hewitt (lost his email call me! )

...plus some registered passengers which i'm keeping track of also.

we are trying to rouse MOTOR to see if we'll have a professional keepsake along with great memories... so c'mon people, yay or nay?

Lleyton Hewitt might be coming - great. Will he be bringing Bec with him, coz if he is I'll take a ride with her.

Seriously though, lets hope we get enough interest by Friday - I think if it goes ahead we will all have a great time.

I'm definately in if it goes ahead.

i'm still in at this stage. getting motor to do a story on it and get my car in a magazine will help me convince me the $10000 it's going to cost me was worth it.
i would bet $10000 they aren't seriously interested.
but to be honest i will be disappointed if we only get 6 cars to show and 2 of them are mine.

rocking on

Please tell me the reason you are going isn't to have your picture in a magazine. I thought the reason for the trip was to make new friends, explore part of Australia and do something a little zany.

as far as MOTOR goes, we won't know anything until at least thursday 7th as our contact is in outer space until then. i just got off the phone with him but the reception is crap where he is so the phone call was reminiscent of Max Headroom ordering a pizza. will let you know as soon as we hear anything...

would be good to keep on the book shelf and show the grand children in 30 years the slow cars we used to drive. i want to stay anonymous to the masses . i don't like the attention.

roger just email a photo of the speedo in NT whilst in the gt2, it sorta does wierd things when i see digital readouts, because most of what i have comes from last century when speedo's where either tight jocks or that line that went clockwise round a vdo dial.

and i would love to be there but werk and fam and NT in the same breath makes the other half look like bulldog chewing a wasp!!

Ash whats the story with the guys from Adelaide that aren't members here (Les, Ted.....), are they currently committed or not?

It seems the regulars here (scud, stephen, mhh, gekko) are in, so it really depends on how many of 'your' guys are coming.....

As for MOTOR, I don't think our decision should be based on their involvement as we should get plenty of our own footage.

Roger, I will get plenty of pics that you can show your grandchildren.

ted is playing service technician in a ford dealership in Darwin, (bit like kerry packer getting a job selling petrol in a servo)

um, we're werking on them.... goober is Ted half likely to want to come down? i'll talk to Les... what about Bill, i don't remember if we've even asked him and then there's Al, last email i sent him bounced back.

oh and i saw GP in his Conti GT on sunday, Mark mentioned he'd like to see that getting loaded on the truck... pity i couldn't squeeze John into it, can u imagine the size of the grin with blank speed limit signs in front of him??

nah of course not, but it'd be great say a couple months after the event seeing our exploits splashed across a major car rag. but yeah we'll likely have more pics/footage than we know what to do with and at the very least we'll put together a nice package for all entrants and whoever here is interested.
