For my next trick.... Wiring 365GT 2+2

Anybody out there with a digital camera?

Need some photos of wiring, specifically the engine compartment and fuse box area. Could use some shots of the wiring comming out of the firewall behind the distributors and such.

I need to figure out how wires are routed and where things are mounted like relays, ignition, coils, Anything at all. Even if you dont know what it is or does, snap a photo of it and it may help. I did not take this car apart so any of the smallest details will help BIG.

Whoever can help will recieve 1000 thank you's

Just so you know what i'm into, this picture says allot more than a thousand words.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeha!

Your picture defines "challenging opportunity"

I see many car shows in your future.

I am sorry I do not have anything that will help you on your way.

But the feeling of accomplishment you will have is priceless.

Erich

Just a thought but perhaps you might consider strating from scratch with something like a Painless wiring kit. They come with a fuse panel and instructions.
Again, just a thought. I don't know much about your project and you may be into total orginality which is fine. I just know how difficult wiring can be. I've thought about ripping out the wiring in my 308 and going with a new kit like that though.
Good luck!

Prayers .... I'll take all you got!!

You are correct sir. It's not as bad as it seems. The worst part is that i did'nt take it apart. The parts books are not as much help as you would think. I wish there was someone in the Detroit area that had a 365 that i could go look at once in a while and get pics of the things I am working on. But believe it or not IT'S FUN!

That was looked at but there are some things that would have to be done after buying the painless. Duel alternator is one along with duel ignition system. You still have to add the guages and sound system. Painless is nice if you have nothing to start with but they are not painless, just lesspain

Steve; I'll be willing to help you in the near future, my car is at a shop and I hope to bring it home within the next two weeks. After it's here I can shoot pics. The area behind the distributors will be pretty hard to get a pic of. The ignition wires come out the fender wells to the dynoplex as you probably know. I don't think my car is original in the area of the forward drivers side engine compartment. Either way, if you still need pics when I get it back I'll be glad to help. Here's one of my recent engine rebuild:

It's tough to get good pictures of those areas. If I can be of any help, give me the exact area you are interested in, and I'll try using extra lighting.

Good luck!

My Garage
steve - I had a bunch of my wiring hanging out a few years ago. Here's the pic - hope it helps. Things to consider if you have this much stuff so accessible at this time.

Higher cfm fans for the AC - since you live in Michigan, maybe not a big deal. But if you want to impove cooling, since there is not enough room back there to enlarge the ducts for more volume, you try to move the air more quickly. On the other hand, the last thing Queens need is more draw on certain circuits . . .

check to see that the square bakelite terminal to the left of the fuse panels is not cracked. Because of a persistent loose connection at that spot and the resulting heat from the resistance it caused, my block had cracked in half (hard to see back/under there), causing a mysterious, intermittent electrical failure for everything.

good luck!!
I have a larger image of this view - pm me if you want me to email it to you

Thanks for all the help so far.

Just to let you know bad this is, the photo below with the motor on the stand was posted by Drew365 to show the progress on the rebuild. As a result of that post I now know where the coils are mounted. Superbimmer posted a pic of the distributor that did'nt help at all for the wiring but i see four pieces that are out there in a box that i now know where they go. Every tiny detail helps me out huge. There is no way i can thank you guys enough.

I dont know how to quote properly so this is what you get.

I have 4 fans in the garage. I have no idea if they are original or from somewhere else. I cant seem to get them to mount on the bracket that is there so i droped it for now. If someone is board out of there mind, how about a pic or 2 of the inner fenderwell showing the fan mounting position.

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE!!! I have the complete wiring diagram showing it but have not found such a thing. Can it be seen in the larger shot?

I don't know if the picture on the left is this, or not ...

This is the relay panel for the cooling fans, and other electrical. It has a black metal cover, with two thumb screws.

I'll look closer when I have time this weekend.

Steve - keep in my mind when looking at my pics (I'll try to send more this weekend) that I have a very early car - so no dinoplex and only one alternator . . .

The wiring for the fans that Superbimmer posted is the area that has been changed on my car. Thanks, maybe someday I'll get mine looking like it should.

Steve,

Those fans look like the ones for a 330GT 2+2, located behind the headlights on both sides. Here is a picture showing the fan & bracket (no good ones on hand):

BTW, the housing pictured is shattered, so if your fans don't fit, lmk!

Cheers,
Jon

Well thanks to you guys i have made my first of many connections. thanks to one of the photographs i have mounted up the relays for the fans and the air conditioning compressor. WE ARE UNDER WAY!!

There is a "before" pic of the relays below. It's amazing what a little soap and water will do. Here is the after.

I can't help with the car issues but I thought I'd show you how to quote, ie:

[q uote=whoever]This is the quoted text[/q uote]

Note just remove the space between the q and the u (added so you would be able to see how it is done) and the site will treat the quote commands as a quote and not just more text.

Good luck.
Pete
