Lightbulb

figure this., take that money you would spend for the rental and factor in a ticket for speeding and wreckless driving, go to Bob bondurant or Jim russel racing school, Skip barber racing school get on the track and get to do all of the Illegal stuff that would be dangerious on the street, do it on the track and keep your Lic and have loads of fun and get a chance to learn in the same process.

Why a Lotus, 99% of the owners buy them for major short commings,?????

Louts owners 40% of them are C.P.A. Cubilce jerks.

I saw that Enterprise? next to Sterling BMW had an Elise. There is also an Exotic rental less than a mile North on PCH. That might have one.

I didn't know they were only $200-300 to rent.

unlike you Karim, most people who rent cars don't do so to thrash and beat them up

Make sure your insurance will cover you driving and destroying someone else's car! Exotic car rental places don't tend to offer insurance. Make sure you throughly expect the car yourself for damage before signing off on it. Really check under the front nose for scrape damage.

I would imagine very few people who rent exotic cars drive them maturely. Accidents are likely a frequent thing. Combine that with a young driver and first time driving a sports car, not likely going to be a tame outing.

the point in renting a lotus was to go on a drive with my dad (father son time) with the top down and just enjoy the ride...he has a old porche 911 s targa but needs a new gas tank gurr so if i wanted to drive a sports car hardcore we would fix that and he would teach me (working on it! LOL) id be fine renting a 350z or a bmw z3 ext long as the top go's down... i just love the look of the lotus.. and thought it be fun.

I understand. In all seriousness, do check on prior damage. Don't want to be charged for something you didn't do. Also, be prepared to leave a significant deposit. When a few buddies and I rented a 355 a few years back, I think they had to secure a 10k security deposit.

Have a good birthday. Elise's are fun little cars, enjoy.

You will have a good time with an Elise.

Don't listen to Karim.
The only part of an Elise Karim is familiar with are the taillights.

Nah, the several Elise owners I know here in SD are more hardcore than most of us with Ferraris.

yes, and me getting my tow belt to pull the owners out of a ditch .

Murph you set a good example of a cool lotus owner, (within the stance of the CPA and PITA crowd)

however the rest of the other owners them really make a bad example.
