First installment - arrival in Palermo. More will follow but I have a bunch of pix so will be over the next few days.

This was a magnificent experience and although we will do this and others as time marches on this was so special. I could tell many stories but the words will fall short of the sights, sounds, smells and emotions of the experience.

If you think you want to do something like this, do it. However you do it and whatever it costs, it is worth it.

    Cheers
    Kevin

OK Jay - day 1. Two laps of the Targa Florio circuit in the AM; gathering in the Palermo town square, then off for the night stage to Sciacca.

    More to come.

    Cheers

Yes, original GT40 and yes Sunbeam Tiger - note the rear of the hood with spacers as those cars ran notoriously hot.

P3/4 was on and off the flatbed as it is geared for Le Mans and basically doesn't run under around 4500 rpm without fouling the plugs. Napolis ran the car on the Prologue around the old Targa Florio route, at the Siracusa circuit and the hillclimb up Mt. Pellegrino. Other times for touring he drove 002C.

Will post up more pix tonight.

See post #10. (As planned) 0846 as geared and with Mech FI is not too happy in stop and go. 002C finished the entire 1100KMS and 8000 turns without a hitch and was a trip and a half in the rain. There's also that it's hard to drive both at the same time.

    Yes, 106 is Fchatter Malcolmb.

What I want to know is, is the guy hanging out the window in this picture Bobafett/Dan? I've only met him once, and this is sort of how I remember him. I've heard he was at this event.

Day 2 Sciacca to Kamarina - RAIN DAY - Ermini equipped with miniature windshield and no top. Southern California driving team has never SEEN foul weather gear, let alone actually OWN foul weather gear - ergo Southern California driving team gets wet...very wet. Found 'speed dry' setting in Ermini below right foot later in the day...

Villa Fegotto for lunch - later on you will see a FIAT Dino Spider which belongs to the owners of the the villa. Magnificent spot even in the wet.

Tried the macro setting for some grille badges as well.

In the villages we were given gifts of flowers, lemons, pastries, wine...those children were asking for autographs...fantastic to be in it but also happy to share the cars with others as well and share their enjoymentas we passed through their towns.

Only three more days to go...plus some extra goodies from elsewhere in Italy...

    Ciao

Incredible photos Kevin! I can only dream of doing something like this in my lifetime :) Driving a vintage racer like that through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world must be wonderful!

How hard are you finding it to drive such an old car on an extended trip? I havent driven many older cars so I dont know how much more difficult they are to handle on longer trips. Car missing any beats or has it proven to be pretty reliable?
