Same thought. WTF is he talking about?? Looks like a regular, albeit pretty nice, 308 GTS QV. Hey, let's all hope he gets his asking price for it. Maybe it will start a trend.

I've never heard of this "factory wide body" either, but I'm pretty new and ignorant. My guess is this is a partial 308 -> 288 GTO conversion?

Look at these photos to compare:

Bert Kanters Ferrari 308 to GTO look conversion project.

I think this ebay car took the best parts of the GTO look, the flared panels and the spoiler, and left out the more extreme details (which in my opinion only distract from the styling). I can even tolerate the interior.

I think its a really nice looking conversion, but the price is steep.

...doubt it much; looks like a berlinetta motorcars gto kit or a maybe a koenig? there was another similar one posted on ebay a few months back, in white and black combo....
the price is ... well, we all can dream I guess ....
I have to say that i do not find it as offensive as other stuff i have seen, although that interior treatment may take a 'little' getting used to :)

It looks ok, but what I hate is when people label a car something it's not. Don't put the GTO emblem on the back...it is the first step towards rice-burner-ism. I think 35-38k would be fair if he threw in a set of new door panels.

All those conversions strike me as a wannabe thing. I do like stick built 250 GTO's etc. with Ferrari parts, which are recreations, but hacking up a 308 to make a bad copy of a 288 doesn't make sense to me. But hey, to each his own.

I think the price is quite high considering I'm selling my 1984 308 GTSi for $30,000. If you know anyone interested please send them my way; 866-619-7963. Dan

    His response on E-Bay....

"I was told by the original inspector of car, Ferrari of Dallas and Norwood Performance that the body work was done at the factory. All commented that to have fully welded perfectly done 288 mods, it had to be done at factory."

BS. I wonder if James would have a comment about his shop's name being used that way

(heck, if the bodywork is done PERFECTLY, that's proof it's not a factory job ;))

He mentions in his ad, on the website link http://www.unclebach.com/, and in the ebay response that the 15K service was done (9 years ago). Don't you think he would have mentioned the major if it had happened? Is this car running on 22yr old belts?
