Balboni crashed a third one in Car and Driver Test.

Interesting article that points out that on tight, twisty Italian roads this isn't the weapon of choice.

Wonderful... the same Car & Driver that just crashed the 599? Any pics out there of the damage? They are going to need to be more careful or they might have a hardtime in the future getting seat time over there. I'd keep a short leash for you're new P 4/5. :)

It will still be perfect for tearing up our long, wide, and straight American roads and turning heads.

Balboni works for Lamborghini not Car & Driver so I don't think it will affect them.

Ha! Perfect for American roads? Yeah I can count the places on one hand were you'll be able to use all that power. The best thing Lamborghini can do is to stop making useless horsepower nobody can use. Then they might have a future.

Yeah, maybe Lambo needs to compete with SMART

Theres no such thing as useless horsepower, its like saying a woman is too sexy, it doesnt exist

^Yes sir. People that buy Lambo's aren't interested in practicality. :)

Man....these cars are dropping like flies. I would be a bit nervous about buying one if these professional drivers are wrecking them!!

IMHO shedding weight is more important. My P 3/4 only has 450 HP but at 1800lbs she gets the job done and has managed to keep her curves.

P 4/5 will be curvy as well and her power to weight ratio will be equal to or better than my P 3/4. Her torque to weight ratio will be substantially better.

At 3800+lbs the new Lambo LP 640 isn't close even with it's adaquite HP. and Torque.

Balbony crashed many Lamborghinis in his life, that's part of his job to be a "Real Life" crash test dummy..

Read the article. This wasn't testing. This was trying to get a mag. shot. C &D didn't feel comfortable trying to drive that car at edge. Balboni tried and crashed. Three of these cars have crashed in the hands of Lambo Drivers.
IMHO they are WAY too heavy. Heavy high horse power cars are IMO inherently dangerous. Look at the massive intrusive electronic "safety" devices in the Veryon. In high speed mode if you turn the car more than 15 degrees or touch the brakes the car shuts down the high speed mode.

The LP 640 and the G need to lose weight. F cars are a little better but they IMO still need to lose weight as well. The Challenge 430 and the 360 CS are a lot more fun to drive and IMO safer that the regular 430 and the regular 360. If the car is so edgy that Balboni loses it trying to do a Mag. shot once again IMHO it is not safe for most drivers who are buying these cars.
I'm not taking about you who know how to pedal but average guys who wouldn't know what an apex was if it landed on their heads.

Remember to check out the next Car and Driver where my project P 4/5 will be unveiled. Note the weight of that puppy. If you're out at Pebble let me know and I'll get you into the P 4/5 party.

How did the car get to 3800lbs anyways? what is the optimum weight for the car? what should lambo strip/change with light weight parts in the car?

Yes, weight is very important. I love the Murcielago Roadster but I know the Porsche CGT is a better car bcus its new & so much lighter

    The Veyron is just silly

Read the article last night and it didn't say anything about Balboni. Infact, it wasn't even that bad of a crash. The driver was asked to do something crazy for the photoshoot and he got a little carried away. Can't wait to see the LP640's here in the states!

We are NOT in disagreement about the weight issue, you know that.
To say that this particular accident is a result of excessive weight is to speculate, I doubt weight has anything to do here.
Short story: Three months ago balboni showed up to a private track day in Willow Springs (Big Track), I was there and so a friend with his Murcie Roadster. My friend did numerous laps with the roadster that day and I did too quite a few laps without any incident, towards the end of the day Balboni took the controls and after few laps ran wide out of turn 2 into the gravel for no apparent reason, rookie mistake in my book not to say he's a rookie but the car or weight had nothing to do with it.
I've been through that turn numerous times in a Murcie pushing it hard, the car is on rails through turn 2.

Thank you for the invite, I will definitely take you on your invite for the P 4/5 party, see you in August.. :D

I'm going to be in Monterrey in August. Is your car going to be on dislplay anywhere other than Pebble?

I remember seeing your P4 at Laguna a few years ago. Was quite the thrill!

    Thanks
