I was interested in having an informal meeting of Ferrari owners / FCA members in Mississippi. I live just outside of Hattiesburg and would like to get some of the cars together. Anyone with suggestions as to the time and location, please reply to this post. Thanks.

Count me in after it cools down a little bit. As hot as it is now, I break into a sweat just walking to my truck in the parking lot.

In Jackson on the reservoir would probably be good. A little drive in the area followed by dinner at Nick's Restaurant would be nice. Rival knows the area better, so hopefully he can suggest something.

Sounds good, Mike. There is a 79 308 in Laurel and I know of another 308 GTSi in Meridian.

I don't know if y'all would mind a "pre-Ferrari owning f-chat member" tagging along or not, but count me in if it's alright. Of course if we wait until it cools off (IF it ever cools off) I may just have a f-car by then....hopefully anyway. If not maybe I will bring the MG, and at least that way anybody with a 2V injected car won't have to be the brunt of all the "slowest car" jokes for once! I'm pretty familiar with the Jackson area, and could help with working out a driving route if needed.

On the subject of dinner: Nick's is nice, but there are a lot of other alternatives, especially considering the price. Bravo is fantastic if we wanted to continue the Italian theme from the cars to the meal, there is a new BBQ place that is excellent, Bonefish Grill in Madison has great seafood, really it just depends on what kind of food we want to go for. I would be happy to help with recommendations and then set up something with the restaurant if we can come to a consensus on what kind of food we want.

gerard.hansen: Is yours the 308 that was on ebay a couple of weeks ago in Petal? I almost called on that car....but for now I am holding out for a Mondial.

Be glad to meet you and anyother F-Chatters in MS. Yes, I had it on E-Bay, I am going to keep it. I have another project to complete and was thinking about getting rid of the Ferrari, but I just can't seem to part with the car.

I don't blame you for hanging on to it...it looks like a beautiful 308 from the pictures that were on ebay!

Do you do anything with the local SCCA in Jackson?

I used to be very active with the local SCCA...didn't miss an event for a couple of years. Then as I got to my last two years of med school, my available free time on the weekends went WAY down. Now that I am done with school and have more of my weekends free, I want to get back going with them. I'll have to do a little work on my car before I can autocross it again though. My clutch is slipping a little and I could really use new shocks and brake rotors. You know what they say, though...nothing like an impending race breathing down your neck to inspire long hours of mechanic work and little sleep!

Have you ever done anything with SCCA here, or were you thinking aboug getting involved?

Did a little autocross. Not many events in MS.

Frank. Love to get together and see the new car. Any ideas for a location? Do you think that Kelly might want to attend?

Kelly would probably want to attend, I know he has been busy lately starting a new business.

Just wanted to give you Mississippi guys a heads-up on a car show tonight (Saturday, 8/12) in case anyone was looking for an excuse to get out and drive their F-car this evening. It is just an informal "drive-in" at the Bumpers restaurant on Spillway Road (Madison county side of the reservoir). The show is from 6:00 - 9:00. I'm going to bring my MG project, and my buddy is bring his M3 convertible. I have been to a few of these before and they are usually very well attended. Mosty American iron, but there is usually the occasional Fiat, Alfa, or something British, and I have seen a fair number of Porsche/BMW guys there on a couple of occasions. Hope to see some of you there!

    Hi guys,

Just became an fChatter today, looking for others in this neck of the woods here in Starkville. Would be interested in coming down to Jackson with my '85 308GTS, preferably in under-100 degree weather. Can also bring down some other pals with a few 911's and a Lotus Esprit, if allowed.

Hi, and glad that you are on the thread. Lets work on getting a date and place set up for all to meet. Jackson looks like a good central location. Maybe sometime before the French Quarter Classic.

Labor Day weekend-ish? Too soon? What are the dates for the French Quarter Classic (and what is it, BTW)? I'm sure I'll be able to find an excuse to point south most weekends, including Fridays!

    thanks-
    marc

Check this site out. I attended in 2004 for the track day on Friday at Grand Bayou Raceway. There was a State Police escort from New Orleans. 160+ cars all going flat out on the interstate! There is a concorso on Saturday and another rally on Sunday.
Labor day weekend sounds good. Anyone else intrested in that date?

Very cool! I can definitely spread the word and recruit for the FQC. Don't know if I can foot the tab for entry, but would be interested in driving down to spectate. Have a couple of buddies interested in a Jackson run/daytrip, along with another one in Montgomery, AL with a Mondial and a 308GT4, depending on a date.

Just the track day on Friday is what I plan on doing. I think they will have some openings for that.

Any takers on a Labor Day weekend Jackson run yet? Friday, Sunday or Monday are best for me...I just got asked to be a judge at the Mossy Oak Car Show in West Point, MS for that Saturday. Mostly muscle car stuff, but consider this an open invite for anyone interested in showing off some Italian exotica!

The Reservoir seems like a good choice, if anyone has any suggestions/comments on a favorite eatery/watering hole/ social gathering point?

Haven't visited this forum on F-chat in some time, but I'm glad I did! I'm game for something in / around Jackson Labor Day weekend (late afternoon / evening is preferred, as it's still hot as &*^% in Jackson, and I never put my top up :) )

Depending on the type of cuisine preferred, I can definitely make some suggestions on restaurants......how many plan to participate?
