Whats crazy about 43K on a 612? I hope that the owner derived 43K miles of pleasure from driving the car. I thought that was what the vehicle was for: driving. At least one and all would realize that it was not a garage queen.
What are you talking about? I don't drive 43K miles over 1.5-2 years on any car. That's a lot to be driving, and the owner has obviously used it on many long trips. That is unusual, or to use your word, "crazy." As you suggest, good for him. But it's certainly not something to brush off in a manner as though it's not an exceptional occurrence, as you do. It is.
I agree, they need to be driven, the mechanicals on that car(assuming all services where done) is probably better than an 05 with 1000 miles on it. I would buy it in a heart beat. I love that color combo!!
I don't see this car as an exceptional occurrance I see cars all the time that would show mileage that would = 20,000 miles per year. Heck my son drives a 2001 Lincoln Nav. that has 118000 on it. What is exceptional is that it looks great. A lot of stuff I see used normally shows quite a bit more wear and tear.
This thread boggles the mind. Just because it can be done - there's no denying that - and it has been done on other cars like a Lincoln Navigator, doesn't mean that it is done on a car like a 612. Of course it can be done. But it isn't. Which makes it "an exceptional occurrence." Show me a dozen other 612s with 50K miles and this conversation is over, but otherwise, enough with this macho "of course the car has 43K miles on it; duh, they were meant to be driven." Yes we all know that. That doesn't mean it's not unusual and commendable when they actually are.
But certainly it's more commendable than the guy who has 1,100 miles on his 612. I think this car belongs to an F-Chatter, Kuzi perhaps(?)
Not necessarily. The guy who has 1,100 miles on his 612 may be driving his 250 GTO every day. But, in general, yes, of course I agree. That's precisely what I said.
There's at least one other one-- there is a guy on the northwest section with similar mileage. He's been all over the country with his 612. EDIT: I wonder if that *is* Eric's car? His is (was?) the same color.
I'm all smiles when I read the thread title. And still is after opened the link. She looks like a healthy runner, although the color of her dress is not exactly to my liking.
43,000 miles!! Hell yeah!!! If I could afford to drive my Ferrari everyday, I would. Anything can be done, if you have the money to service or repair the car when needed. Im sure this 612 is mechanically A1.
That's the car I was thinking of! Pics were taken in Bentley Bellvue (sp?) showroom. Thumbs up to Eric!
Who, Me? We had two solid years of outstanding fun and good times with the 612. It's an awesome car, and I love it. It almost never left us stranded with just one instance of an intermittant wiring fault in first month of ownership, but fna roadside service and Ferrari of Central Florida both took great care of us. It was up until very recently the most incredible car I've ever driven. Could drive 500 - 600 miles in a day, and still walk upright at the end of the day and be ready to do it again the next day, for weeks on end. One trip we spent 5 weeks in it, driving all over the place. What a ball! Just think: a great touring car you can take to get to that really great road out in the middle of nowhere that you've heard about, and then you have one of the most capable sports cars ever made to enjoy that road with. Sure, there are sportier and faster cars. And there are better GT cars. But darn few of either, and even fewer that do everything so well. Made two trips from Seattle to Daytona, 10 or 12 trips from Seattle to LA, one Seattle to Santa Fe, and many drives in between. Most trips were off the itnerstates, electing to use the smaller (and curvier) state and county highways. Kicked some serious behind on the Ferrari Challenge Rally in it, and have gone grocery shopping with it. It just does everything so well. Here are a few of my favorite pics of the car. Nice work Eric! What do you mean by this, "It was up until very recently the most incredible car I've ever driven."????? As with Stephen, nice work also.
eric, since your car has 43000 miles on it, does it run like it should. have you serviced it alot? when is the warenty up? Do you think a engine replacement is neccesary in the near future? I showed my dad the car on ebay last night and now my dad is in love! he is going to try contacting the dealership of where it is sold. BTW, what are you getting after you sell the 612?
Eric -- is your F599 nearly ready then ? I've seen this car up-close and personal several times and it is *spectacular*. Eric's right about the car having some serious capabilities on the track too -- on one of the "special stages" it came in the top three (not sure exact position.. eric?).
I was just at my local ferrari dealer with my dad, and we saw a 2006 two tone 612 with 8000 miles that was delivered in febuary being serviced at the time. and I was surprised that the newer ferrari's especially the 612 are reliable almost to the point of which you can drive it daily. but asking about the engine replacement thing is logical, because of a prior experiance with our 2002 bentley arnage. The car was bought new by my dad, but then this summer at 49,600 miles a head gasket blew! But the car was babied and treated like it was still in its "break in" period during ownership of 50,000 miles. We got an estimate by bentley ( the car just had its warrenty expired ) And bentley said that it would set us back $12,000. and then 200 miles later after the head gasket fix, the engine block started to grow an "ulcer"! bentley said that that was due to a lack of care for the car by not maintaning a required amount of fluids. but then we decided to take it to a independent mechanic and they said a coroded head gasket was used to repair the car. so we got a original part put in by bentley the next day and my dad made them pay. But then 2 days after the car was delivered to my dad, When starting it up in the morning the fuel line was not connected correctley by bentley so the whole house smelled like gasoline for 3 days, and on top of that our new epoxy floors were ruined. So then we got the car fixed again. And 2 months ago we traded it in to bentley downers grove for a new bentley flying spur. Sorry for the lenghty expaination but thats why i asked
