In fact, if I were the type to repaint a car another color (Im no longer that type, just personal preference) Id had done my own "4884" in Blu Tahiti. Even though I AGREE with you that 5096 was the star of the handful of Miuras at Concorso 2006, the judges didnt agree with us and awarded Best Miura to the aforementioned 4884. A small trophy adorns the wall of my study, in case I forget the occasion. Yet again, the silver 4968, also restored by Bobileff was quite striking, indeed my wife's favorite. Something for everyone. Joe PS - I think youll have to paint that LP400 your planning on repainting Orange, in Blu Tahiti instead! Last edited by joe sackey; 12-06-2006 at 10:59 PM. |

Alan,
This handsome black car, Miura SV 5110, is NOT the last production Miura - it is production number 761, and the last production Miura is 762. It is also, NOT the last Miura completed. 4 more P400SVs were completed after 5110 (5092, 5108, 4826 & 4822). The error comes from an off-hand comment made by someone at the works in early 1973, which was erroneously copied down for the famed Coltrin/Marchet Miura book (1982). Naturally, subsequent owners of 5110 have propagated this mistake, perhaps unwilling to do anything to correct it. However, insiders and enthusiasts of this ultimate variant of the Miura are now well aware of what is correct, and the car's true status is now the 'received wisdom'. The factory's own Miura Production Register (1974) clarifies all the above and will be reproduced in my book - if that EVER comes to print! End of Miura class for today... So, Ferruccio kept one Miura SV for himself (5028) with its unique headlight surround 'eyelash' treatment. Just look how proud he is...

These exclusive images show The Old Man with his Miura SV and clearly depict his fondness for the Miura.

BTW, the second car (the yellow SV) is the Ex-Walter Wolf 5092, originally finished in its famed "Oro Longchamps" (Gold) livery. When I told Walter that the factory had repainted it in yellow he exclaimed: "NO, they DIDNT!!"

...when did Walter said that??? And in what context? About the other pics: no, I don`t like the "Zinc-car", nono!!! Like the pic of the "lost" Miura with this heavy bumper on its nose. What car is it??? Joe, I hope all pics you publish here are NOT in your upcoming book! Hope there are other shots of those great cars. Ciao! Walter |

Wally said that in 2003. He said it because his old 5092 is a very 'historical' car that should have been restored in the original gold color. I agree. Dont know chassis number of the "nerf-bar" project car. The book project has a different set of images, although....naturally some are being used here (important ones all copyrighted to me)...which in a sense is a way to let people know what standard to expect. So this venue is a great way to share. Joe Last edited by joe sackey; 12-07-2006 at 01:44 PM. |

Of course Walter, I know better than to post all the images that will be forthcoming in a book!! There have been one or two posted here but they will look completely different in high-res on quality paper. Also, rememeber, the book will be a journal of information, illustrations, chassis numbers, history etc etc etc that youll ONLY get in the book. Dont worry about images OK, I would describe whats posted here as "outtakes" of particular shoots... Joe |

Dont apologize! It is the car's current owner's RESPONSIBILITY not to blatantly mis-represent the history of the aforementioned vehicle. I happen to know that the car's current owner is also AWARE of the car's true status, which makes it worse. It even has a non-original plaque made up and installed on the dash proclaiming a 'Last' status, but that is an item that was added in recent years. Yes, the SVJ is indeed Ex-Shah. The others we had better not comment on.... LOL. I do like the sublime green Ex-Justin De Villneuve P400S - it was never Twiggy's car as often parroted. He was simply her manager, and she MAY have sat in it...once! BUT, your images are both stunning and appreciated. Joe Last edited by joe sackey; 12-07-2006 at 03:51 PM. |

LJK Setright
Writing in CAR he coined the phrase "Supercar" to describe the Miura. Setright, Nichols, Blain, Fraser, Bulgin. Some of the best automotive writing came from these men and CAR magazine.
