Need some advice. Is there too much sun glare from a cuoio dash and is carbon fiber, for driving zone, worth the $4000+ price? Also ball-polished factory wheels too flashy and/or unrepairable if damaged? Thanks Nielsq
Cuoio does not glare like Beige. You should be ok with that. The Carbon driving zone is nice with the stradale style wheel, paddles and cluster in carbon if you opted for the carbon dash inserts as opposed to the aluminum. The only issue I have seen with the driving zone and lower cabin zone is that it drives the MSRP up $10k. At the end of the day I dont think you get that back as there is a market for "bottom line price" as opposed to "amount over sticker". When you are in the premium game people will only pay so much for the car period regardless of options. I had an 06 spider with an MSRP of $267k that only brought in the upper 330's 8 months ago. It's all a matter of taste and opinion. You know what you want in your heart. The ball polished wheels can be repaired if curbed. Its a simple matter of time as it takes a while to sand out the rash and polish it back to finish. Worst case scenario if you had a deep curb rash you might end up with a slight bit of curvature in the lip from the removal of the damage. I hope I have been of help.
Wear polarized sunglasses and the glare isn't an issue with any color. I've seen several F430 with polished wheels and they look real nice!
Here are pictures (save a thousand words). Notice partial black top of dashboard (did that for aesthetics but also no concern about glare). Best
The carbon fiber dash is well worth it my opinion, I cant stand the normal Grey one. Makes the interior nicer and look more complete. Although, everyone has different tastes.
Has anyone seen the ball polished Challenge wheels? I see they are listed as an option for '07 - not sure if they were available for '06. Are these still lighter than the stock wheels? How much? Also - can someone tell me how to get the CF Steering wheel? Which option package is it part of? CF Driver Zone? Thank you..
RBK - Isn't that the "F430 Wheels, Ball Polished"? I also see a "Ball Polished Challenge Stradale Style Wheel Rims" on the option list for '07. I'm curious to see what that wheel looks like and also know if it is lighter than the F430 wheels. Any knowledge on the CF Steering wheel? Thanks! Alex
CF wheel is upper driving zone and ball polished challenge wheels are currently an option. I don't know when they became available.
Hello, John in Richmond, VA... I have an rosso corso '05 F360... all cuoio. Dash, steering wheel, seats, headliner, etc. LOVE it. It works really really well. I love the uniformity of the interior. No dash glare what-so-ever. The single color interior looks great, not only from the inside, but from the outside looking in. I have a 430 on order and I am going to spec it out the same way, but will add red stitching. The black dash is OK, but I sometimes think it looks too busy with too many colors. No experience with carbon fiber. Feel free to contact me directly at [email protected]. Take care, John

This is a great idea. I told my dealer to order it for me, and his contact in the factory did not know about this option. They asked for the last 8 digits of the factory number of an existing car that has this option in order to be able to do it for me. So could you write me the last 8 digits of your car. It would be much appriciated! Thank you! Andras
I just came upon this thread. It has been about a year since I posted those pictures. I have driven the car ever since with never a glare problem. With the upper portion of the dashboard in black, which I think adds to the overall affect, there is absolutely no glare. Great car, enjoy the ride. Best
I was in a top of the line Mercedes in Paris at the weekend, with a full beige interior, interestingly the owner had a patch of black leather suede draped over the top of the instrument console to prevent the glare. You can also specificy the cover of the instrument console in black leather with a beige dash if you are nice to your dealer, it looks much more integrated that way than just a whole black dash
