Hey mate, I’m about to attempt re packing the grease on my 348 GTS and was wondering the best way to stop the flywheel spinning when undoing the ring nut? I have made my own tool but wanted to avoid using a rattle gun if possible so would like to crack the nut loose while it’s still on the car. I had someone in the car with their foot on the brake and in first but it seemed to spring from 6 o’clock to 9 o’clock and didn’t think that seemed right. I can see the starter ring gear in the inspection plate so thinking I may need to chock it from there. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey Tony, you definitely need to lock the flywheel up mate with a screw driver or tool on the ring gear. It’s the best way to do it. :)

Put t it face down on a towel with the nutring facing up. Hit it with an impact wrench while holding the side of the housing, it comes right off. Reverse to go back on.

Thanks for the reply. I was trying to avoid using an Impact if possible only cause I made my own tool without heat treating it and am concerned it won’t hold up. Image Unavailable, Please Login
