This picture is supposed to be from the Geneva Show 1968, copied from Motor Trend magazine, June 1968.

Edit: From "Car" magazine's report on the Geneva Show (June 1968):
"Our good friends Lamborghini were of course much in evidence once more, this time with a big stand in the middle of the hall replete with two newcomers as described last month. The interim Islero model, using many inner panels from the original 350/400 series car, looked better than it had in prototype, largely because its deep blue finish seemed to suit it vastly better than the prototype's drab grey. It is still, however, a disappointingly ugly and amateurish car by comparison with its big sister the fabulous Espada."

Thanks a lot, this looks like #6000 indeed.

Ciao,

Now this is VERY interesting!
I thought it was #6000 that was displayed at the Geneva Show,
but this picture proofs otherwise.

The blue #6003 is listed at the ILR as: Consigned to Geneva. Nothing further known. Consigned to Geneva could very well mean Showcar for Geneva???

Great news!

Ciao,
Marcello

Hi Alan,

This is #6036, was owned by Paul Cox.
It was completed by the Lamborghini factory on 04/23/1968 as the 12th Islero made, and was probably the Geneva show car rather than #6000 as is often claimed by casual writers. So this is another Geneva Show car candidate....

Alan, are you a member of the LCUK, and do you track Vintage Lamborghini's as well?

Best regards,
Marcello

Islero Reunion

There will be an Islero Reunion next year in honor of the 40th Anniversary of its introduction. It will take place at the end of June 2008 as part of the Lamborghini Owners Club National Meet at Le Belle Macchine d'Italia, The Largest 3 Day Italian Automotive Event in North America.

The event features a Concorso d'Eleganza and 2 days of Driving on Pocono International Raceway. As of right now we have 4 Isleros confirmed to be attending, (Jim Kaminski # 6210, Lou Herrin # 6096, Donald Osborne # 6267 and mine # 6243) The record is 5 Isleros togehter at one time for an event. Our goal is 10 cars, we should be able to do it. www.italiancarsatpocono.com

Below are pictures of Lou Herrin's Islero on the track at Pocono as well as pictures of my Islero and Donald Osbone's car.

Hi i was an enthusiast member 20 years ago, but i was only 16 and dreaming back then! Not a member any longer as being an enthusiast member, cost money but didnt seem to get you any advantages over non members so i stopped.
I dont track classic Lamborghinis, i'm more into the modern post Miura supercar era, But any famous or classic cars are ones that i do try and be aware of.Your info on the Islero in my picture, for instance, is of interest. Thanks Alan W

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the pictures. Nice actionshot of Lou!

Well, in that case I think we most have some competition, and perhaps we could organise an Islero meeting here in Europe as well at that time.
In Holland we have about 8 Islero's, so the record of 5 could be broken by us Dutchies allone:-). And 11 is our goal, hèhè...

Here's an older picture of your car when it was still in Switzerland
(on the right)

Best regards,
Marcello

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the info. If you have any more Islero pictures in your files,
please do post them, because they are rare...

Mystery Islero UK - Lebanon

Hi all,

Here's an Islero picture that was in the book "Supreme amongst exotics".
This car was owned in the 1980's owned by Colin Earl, registered on UK plates Q538 CPE. This example is to German specifications and was brought from Lebanon to the UK for a certain amount of restoration, so I read.

An UK Lambo owner already told me this:
The red car was photographed out of the UK, you can tell by the roads in the background. Q plates normally mean the car was built from parts or crashed and rebuilt Q is reserved also for home built kit cars.

Who knows the chassisnumber of this car?

Best regards,
Marcello

Hey Garrick,

Thanks again for posting these very nice pictures.
Great to see this car has a full leather interior, even on the dashboard where the dials are located. The car also has red painted heads (Testa Rossa)!
I belief the prototipo #6000 had that as well.
Nice shot of the VIN plate! So now we know the enginenumber as well.

Many thanks for your great help!

Ciao!
Marcello

Hi Marcello,

It is already on the Islero Information Exchange as red/black car.

BTW, does anybody have a parts catalog for Islero? I saw one on eBay some months ago.

Hi

6036 is my car and as far I am aware it is the Geneva Show car - it's the car at Brighton, shown elsewhere in this thread.

Hello UK,

Is your awareness perhaps based on some documentation that came with the car when you bought it from Paul? That would be nice to know, and we can delete all perhaps and mightby's...

Best regards,
Marcello
