I think 17" is too small for the 456M. Anyone has any info for factory option decent looking wheels for the 456M, like 18" perhaps 2 piece wheel or other else??

HRE 547R or 540R is a great chioce...18" better ride and handling...19" better look, but harder ride, much more expensive tire,

Axis 7 is another good looking wheel,

Koeing makes a wheel and so does Hamman.

I beleive the 550 and the 456 share the same offsets front and rear,

While you may think that the 17" rim looks small, the suspension was designed around that size. Just something to consider before you spend the money.

While this is true, I believe we're among reasonable people, and don't think shelbee would put 22" chrome spinners on his 456 ;). I personally wouldn't go bigger than 18", and would try keeping the same circumference...

550 wheels are indeed interchangable, as according to the offset data I have. Thus, what would work on a 550 would work on a 456.

Does that black car have 19s?

shelbee, since you have a set of 360 wheels, do you want me to do the math and see if they fit the 456?

When your checking into the 550 wheels, I believe from '01> they had a two piece wheel with a nice polished dish which is MUCH nicer than the earlier standard wheel.

    Auraraptor,

I met a guy on F-chat that bought my OEM 360's wheels without the tires (Michelin Pilot Sports) about a month ago, so I swapped the tires from Pirelli to these Michelin on my 360's Modular wheels. So much better traction and ride comfort with Michelin.

I just bought a set of 575M's 19" OEM Modular wheels for my 550. Have not put them on yet since I am waiting for the rear tires from tire rack. They said 2nd week of July :( only one company makes these: Pirelli Rosso 305/30/YR19

If the 550's wheel offset is the same as 456's, it might not be a bad idea to put 550's OEM wheels to the 456M. I don't like the tires on the 456M anyhow with Pirelli Zero Asymmetrico currently (OEM). The 550's OEM wheels have the Michelin Pilot Sports.

I think they will look good on the 456.

I am not sure about HRE wheels on the 456. I think they look too aftermarket

Do you think I can fit the wheels without the spacer??

I did the math in another thread, I believe so, since they are the same size but only very slightly different in offsets.

Thanks for the research. I DO like 550 wheels the best on the 456M.

    550 front 255/40/YR18 and rear 295/35/YR18

    456 front 255/45/YR17 and rear 285/40/YR17

I think 550's rubber will fit the same since I am changing my 550 with

    front: 255/35/YR19 and rear: 305/30/YR19

Fronts are nearly exactly the same. (.02% difference)

Rears are a bit more, but still fine at a +0.59%.

So yes OEM rubber on the wheel will work just fine.

    Please post pics! :)

In your other thread about 4 mm spacer, how about using the same wheel bolts corresponding to the WHEELS instead of to the CAR??

E.g.: I will be using 550 wheel bolts on the 456M to use 550 OEM wheels??

I cannot say for certain without measuring. That said for 360 wheels on my 328, the 360 oem bolts were 'just about right.' So based on that, in theory that would work right.

Again the only real way is to measure it out.

    Omar and Shelbee,

Sorry not to have more pics of my car with new wheels and tyres on. I'm hoping to post something in the next couple of days - just been too busy recently.

I'm fairly sure that the 575M wheels & tyres that Shelbee has just bought are the same as the 19" wheels and P zero rossas that I have on my 456. They definitely fit! Centre logo swaps straight across from standard wheels, unlike any after-market wheels.

Careful wheel-balancing and tracking check required after the swap though, as the first attempt produced some horrible vibration in the steering wheel (admittedly at speed well above US speed-limit). Probably a single weight had fallen off somewhere....

    Pics to follow.

    James.

If you keep the same rolling diameter, it really doesn't matter.

456s and 550s have nearly the same rolling diameter, incidently.
