http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320147732024 Ok, so much for the cars self-destructing at 50,000 miles. How much you figure has been spent on maintenance on this thing over the years? At 30,000 miles/major, that 6.7 majors X ~$4500 (current cost) = $30,000! Heck I think it's great to see a V8 with that many miles, in fact I have not heard of a higher mileage Ferrari!
Agreed - glad to see a high mileage Ferrari. I think the mechanicals are up to it, but it's just the deferred maintenance and lack of driving that gives these cars a reputation for being maintenance hounds. BTW, what's that red wire in the engine compartment? (the one going past the oil dipstick and to the intake manifold?) Seems like someone gerry-rigged something. And considering it's still clean/bright, it was done relatively recently... Bob
I am impressed but I would be even MORE impressed if I knew for sure that the engine was never rebuilt. 200,000 miles on a factory sealed motor would set some kind of record for a 2V injected car.
He just rolled the odometer FORWARD to get your attention. I have it on good authority that its a 5,000 mile car......engine only rebuilt twice......
Wow!!! That is great news!! My apologies if this is common knowledge.... Does the mondial engine have the same 'flat crank' as on the 355? The flat crank makes for quicker throttle response and higher horsepower potential...... but..... the 'flat crank' makes more vibration vs the 'cross crank', which is one reason I believe f-cars have a tad more issues than other V8s. But if one stays on top of the engine with adjustments and making sure things don't come loose. They should have lots of mileage potential as well.
The Mondials have the same engines as contemporary 3X8s. This Mondials makes me think my 86K 328 GTS is low miles!
now i'm not totally sure about this, but i once saw on (i think) the fca-mar website enzo ferrari's '84 308 which had 265,000 miles. that's the most i've ever heard on a ferrari. very inspiring. my '78 308 just rolled 45K. john
If I had an extra 10g to throw I would pounce on it just for Mileage braging rights. I could have both a queen and the dog...Im heading over to look at the car right now. If anyone in OC wants to join me. Im going over in about an hour to take detailed pics and maybe drive it and report back.
Great club car for the chicks...all you need is the fuzzy dice, and you dont need to worry about door dings. Sweet !
Wow, it is amazing and great to see a Ferrari with so many miles. What I find funny about this car is that the spoiler looks EXACTLY like the one on my Mustang GT.
Wow is right... for a few grand you could be the coolest pizza delivery guy on the planet!! We know what happens to those guys...right? Thousands of porn movies can't be wrong. I like the front end treatment.
I suspect the speedo was silk-screened for MPH, but the odo still reads in Km...I've seen it before on on gray market cars, especially Mondials and early TR's with the seperate odo. I had a client who used to bring his Euro Mondial QV coupe in for very frequent 5,000 miles services, one day while driving the car I realized the odo was reading in Km rather than miles....it was a well serviced car!
Judging by the condition of the car, I would've thought more like 185,000 miles - definitely not 197,386. Lol.
could have been, though i remember seeing miles. there wasn't much more info on the car, but it was for sale somewhere.
Well the results are in. the car is a POS.. I am loading a youtube video right now. I will start posting pics right now. It used to be red and the motor was supposedly rebuilt in 2003 but the guy had no reciepts or paperwork on the car just a bunch of writing on an envelope of what was done.
