Wednesday 9/12/07 - Report #1 Location: Southlake, Texas Miles Driven (since last report): 0 Miles Driven (total): 0 --- Jennie & I are hitting the road now in the 328. Staying tonight outside Ft. Wednesday 9/12/07 - Report #2 Location: Van Buren, Arkansas Miles Driven (since last report): 320 Miles Driven (total): 320 --- Jennie and I had a great drive up. Left at 4:15, took 35W to avoid the North Dallas traffic all the way to home of famous Bob Smith Coachworks in Gainesville and then 82 over east to 75 and up to 40. Stopped once for gas and a snack. Now walking over to a Chilis for sup. Cohen's and Kennedy's will be getting here later. No speeding tickets thankfully, but more patrols than I've ever seen between Dallas and here. Thursday 9/13/07 - Report #3 Location: Wiederkehr Winery, Arkansas Miles Driven (since last report): 45 Miles Driven (total): 365 --- Rob & Karen arrived to hotel last night about 10pm, then Brian and Nancy about 2am. We had breakfast and then off eastbound on 40 Jennie leading the 355 and 360 CS. Arrived Wiederkehr Winery (www.wiederkehrwines.com) before 11. Did a little wine tasting and then had a nice casual lunch with extended wine and food tasting. Ron & Stephanie joined us about 1pm. Thursday 9/13/07 - Report #4 Location: Eureka Springs, Arkansas Miles Driven (since last report): 91 Miles Driven (total): 456 --- We have arrived! Left the winery with the 4 generation Dallas 8 cylinder train. I led the way, being the slowest. Took 23 and the famous Pig's Trail up from 40 to Eureka. Traffic wasn't too bad. Friday 9/14/07 - Report #6 Location: War Eagle Mill, Arkansas Miles Driven (since last report): 31 Miles Driven (total): 487 --- 45 vehicle exotic caravan from hotel to War Eagle Mill along some great driving roads. Warmed the engine and brakes up nicely. Buffet breakfast so the lines wouldn't be as long. ***Note: the cashier messed up and charged each person and shouldnt have. This was not the fault of FerrariChat.com. I'll get a bar tab on me, which may be more damage than $7 breakfast. Friday 9/14/07 - Report #8 Location: Eureka Springs, Arkansas Miles Driven (since last report): 0 Miles Driven (total): 516 --- I caught up with FerrariChat work once the parade was over while ladies went downtown shopping and Rob/Ron sampled the test drive Bentley's. Ron and I then met the ladies downtown for some patio relaxation. Back to the hotel for reception and sit down meal before being bused back downtown for the Little Feat concert. I knew very little about Little Feat, I sold a few of their CD's when I ran a business in college. I have also heard a few songs on the radio, but I still didn't know what to expect. I absolutely loved them, a really fun concert had most dancing in the aisles and rushing the stage. I'm now a fan. Late night came back to the usual Baker's Lounge fracas. Saturday 9/15/07 - Report #9 Location: Branson, Missouri Miles Driven (since last report): 59 Miles Driven (total): 575 --- New driving route up to the North and East this year ending up at a private car collection in Branson. The roads were awesome, not very much traffic until close to Branson, which is great for a Saturday. Up at the front of pack, we were driving it very hard. I have to work fairly hard keeping up with a 550, 355 mod, C6 Z06, and 360. I did the 328 fans proud though. The car, memorabilia, and outboard motor collection was very eclectic. Very interesting people involved and some good stories. The owner of the collection was driving this old car around, he has a ton of money and cars, but loves to drive this around. What a great guy. Saturday 9/15/07 - Report #10 Location: Branson, Missouri Miles Driven (since last report): 16 Miles Driven (total): 591 --- From the car collection we went to this individuals plane collection. This was really special for me as my interest this year has been heavy on flying. Again, very eclectic collection of 20+ planes. Really no rhyme or reason to the collection. Some great vintage stuff like Waco, PT-22, and DC-3, but many modern general aviation planes. 5-6 twins, several Cessna's, and some experimentals. The plane the individual supposedly likes to fly the most looks like the least likely to make and stay airborne. Open amphib with boat steer wheels, beer tap stick, and gas tank looking like a beer box. After tour drove to a new development called Stormy Point Village for lunch. Saturday 9/15/07 - Report #11 Location: Eureka Springs, Arkansas Miles Driven (since last report): 70 Miles Driven (total): 661 --- After the lunch, live music, and socializing we left Branson back for Eureka Springs on a different route, just as awesome as one coming up. This time had the extra fun of wet technical roads, which I really enjoyed. 328 did great. Back in town most took a quick nap and then downtown to the Basin Hotel for open bar and food. Late night Bakers Lounge although Im here in room catching up on FerrariChat and resting up for trip back tomorrow. Ive certainly had more than my quota of fun this weekend and the reason I put on my calendar and return each year. All for less than $500 a person, cant beat that. Sunday 9/16/07 - Report #12 Location: Southlake, TX Miles Driven (since last report): 423 Miles Driven (total): 1104 --- Jennie and I made it home. Easy trip back, no rain and not too hot. I drove the first half with the Texas caravan, then Jennie drove us home solo after lunch. Another great weekend, thanks to everyone. Jennie and I will be back next year of course.
