Oct 28 exotics-only cruise in Indy
I'm still not sure if this is the best idea but we can at least try it once.
Our Midwest SCC cruise on Oct 28 (Sunday) will be limited to exotics only. That means: (In parentheses = how many I estimate will come) all Ferrari (4-5) all Lamborghini (2-3) Ford GT (2) all Aston Martin (0) all Lotus (2) Porsche Carrera GT, 996 Turbo, 997 Turbo (2) Ariel Atom (1) Dodge Viper (3) C1 or C2 Corvette (1) Pantera (1) I'm guessing there will be about 15 cars total, maybe up to 20. This isn't to be snobby, the reason we're doing this is that it'll be easier to stay together during the drive, we'll attract less unwanted attention, and I'll actually get a chance to meet everyone. I'm not sure about meeting place or where we're going to cruise (Rick and/or Bill can you help?). Since it's on a Sunday we'll get a little later start so that people can go to church before. This is probably the last drive before winter!! I hope some of you can make it up from Cinci or Louisville Last edited by Webby; 10-18-2007 at 12:58 AM. |

It's funny you group my C1 with exotics, funny but thank you! I did not think you were old enought to see solid axle Vettes kick a** as Sebring and Watkins Glenn.
Sorry I can't be there as I'll be Ferrari shopping on the west coast, but maybe you should look at a quick run down to and across 44. Rick knows the road and it is close to Indy on the south side if you want some curves and hills. Depends if a drive or social event, if you want some miles I'll e mail you a great route. If you just want a place to eat and hang out to talk cars, the old Stutz factory downtown Indy has some restaurants in it and car guy/racer Turner Woodard has several cars sitting around the halls of the place on display, Ferraris, Stutz, Duzys, mid year Vettes, Cobra, etc... Also FYI, if you want a road trip, the guy from Madison with the 67 330 GT 2+2 last Saturday said he could host a gathering at his place, with a drive on some good curves. Now or in the future. He has a vintage motor bike collection too which might be neat to see. He has not joined a site yet, but I can call him to contact you if you want to discuss that option. Bummer - my car is going to its hibernation destination on the 27th. I do want to thank you Webby and Bill for all your efforts and organization over the summer months. I think you both have done a steller job bringing the regional board to life and giving opportunity for all to develop new relationships w/ fellow car enthusiasts. I regret I didn't get to join you guys on more meets but my attention to your combined work is greatly appreciated.
I look forward to joining you guys next season and promise to make several of the get togethers. All the best to you both, Stephen |

Thanks Gershwin, it was great having you on our 135 run in July. The sound and sights of your car in the rolling hills and woods could have made a Ferrari commercial.
When cabin feaver sets in during the snow months we'll have a Christmas party or go Karting so it ain't over yet. Refusing to grow up, Bill |

I've been trying to get the Louisville, Cinci and Indy people all in one big meet without much luck ... since Stephen is out and both of Adam's cars aren't drivable it doesn't look like it'll happen this time either ... but we might go down to 44 like Bill suggested. |

I've been looking at a route through south eastern Indiana: I-74 to Hwy 1 (near Cinci) down to Lawrenceburg, then SR56 to Rising Sun and on to Vevay, then SR129/SR250/SR62 to Madison. After a break, we will follow SR7 up to Columbus, then back to Indy on I-65. Total miles is about 240 - figure 6 - 7 hours total time (Iindy-to-Indy) w/ potty and gas breaks. Start mid- to late-morning, back before dark.
Not sure if the roads are that good; I'll have to drive it to find out. Anyone here know if it is? It looks pretty interesting on Google Earth - assuming the weather is good. If it looks like rain we might want to stay closer to Indy. |
