This may be old, but if it is, I missed it. On the old Ferrari Owner's Site you could get a Heritage Certificate for free for pre-80 cars. Well on the new site you can get a "Color Certificate" for the newer cars as well. Ferrari Customer Care just sent me an email that my certificate was ready for downloading. It looks just like the old on one (Model/Interior Color/Exterior Color/Build Date/Chassis number) but with Original Vehicle Colors at the top. The only thing missing is "engine type". Here is the link once you log into the system: http://www.ferrariowners.com/cms/public/cmd/ViewTemplate?templateNode=PAGE070809020651COLORI.

It is under Cars/Classiche/Historic Archive/Car colours.

I was lucky enough to get a heritage cert before they stopped issuing them. I also have printed out a color cert since the change. Neither is really worth much but they are kind of neat to have.

Took me a few attempts to get it to take. It kept saying invalid car number, but took when I only put in the last 7 digits. Then it said it was correctly entered and Ferrari will check my data. Do they email you the certificate?

The dealer filled out the key number and the chassis number the engine number is left blank. The coupons that had that info are just stubs.

Still looking I don't have a carb car it is FI, have not found it but the lighting is not great in the attached garage and there is SNOW on the ground between it and the detached garage where the light is GREAT!

I put in for a certificate for my 328 GTS, but I was told the engine number was invalid.

On the 328 there are two lines to the engine number on the center of the V -- anyone know if it is supposed to be just the first line, just the second line, or both? (I tried both, and I was denied.)

It took Ferrari like 3 weeks to deny it.

If you locate the thermostat housing (above the water pump), the engine number is stamped on a boss located beside it (when looking directly at the thermostat housing, from the passenger's side of the car, that boss will be on your left-hand side of the housing). Considering you have a F.I. car, there may be stuff in the way (I think, the warm-up regulator?) that'll block your view, but it's down there...

That's not bad. When I got my Colour Certificate, they got the thing backwards; Red leather exterior, Black paint interior! I'm sure if I contact them, they'll send a correct one, but since I have the Heritage Certificate already (which is correct), I'm not too concerned about having the Colour Cert. "fixed".

I used the second line without the stars. Five digits.

On FI cars (or, at least on my Mondial QV) it's buried deep in the valley by the thermostat housing. It's difficult to see, but if you use a flashlight and look just under the thermostat housing (i.e. just aft of the thermostat housing), the engine number is there.

Took two days. I'm actually kind of glad to have it, because my car's an unusual color and FCA judges have asked whether it was original.

Maranello turned mine around in about 2 days as well. Kind of nice to have. I used all digits on the engine block (F105A + the 6 digits for my QV engine)

Those colors make mine sort of boring, but I fixed the GTB to GTS. I re-submitted it, so now I have two; one GTS and one GTB.

How much blacker could it be? The answer is "none".
