Talking to Tillman today, it is such a pretty day, but maybe a little late to get something planned and the Daytona race is coming up soon. How about a President's Day run? Maybe meet up 10am and finish off at Jason's catfish place (JR's) in Boyd for lunch? I'm flying at 2pm, but that's over that direction. Maybe start central location up by Denton and go from there finishing in Boyd about noon?

Jason, is your place open tomorrow for lunch?

Hey guys, J.R's is closed Mondays but if the group is fairly small, I would be happy to host a private lunch at J.R's Catfish.
I can cook up a bunch of catfish and fries, and we can eat as a group..

    Let me know,
    Jason

Don't worry about it Jason, we'll wait until we can get a bigger group and you are open. Thanks for generous offer though.

Tillman & Manny are meeting me at the same ole North of Denton spot...

Loop 288 and 35 at the "abandoned" outlet/strip mall East of 35.

9:30 am and then we'll plan a quick route to get back to Denton for lunch.

Manny, Tillman, Jason, and I got the Ferraris hot. I put 225 miles on as we went around Lake Ray Roberts over to Forestburg up St. Jo loop and lunch at Muenster. Beautiful day, actually traffic and cops weren't too bad. Tillman and Jason joined me for 1.3 hour flight from Roanoke, touch & go at Denton, around Eagle's Canyon, over Bridgeport Lake, 2 touch & go's Bridgeport, and then back to Roanoke flying over Jason's restaurant in Boyd and another property. I just have pics of the drive, Tillman and Jason have pics of the drive and flight.

Somebody should tell Manny that the silver car isn't his Ferrari.

We had a blast! I haven't had such a fun day off of work in ages. Thanks Rob for taking us flying... Your a great pilot.. very focussed!

After leaving Tillman and Rob, I went to Hicks airfield and met another friend and got to fly in his new Diamond aircraft.. All I can say is WOW! Flying a stick
with glass panel was an awesome experience, that little plane was like driving a Lotus..! (Testarossa is more like a Cessna 206 :) After the Diamond we took
the seaplane out and did a few touch and goes at sunset on Eagle Mountain Lake.. The end to a perfect day!

Rob is that your own Cessna? Which one is it? I need to get back into my lessons. I have a hanger across the street from my house (fly in fly out neighborhood) and would LOVE to put a Piper Comanche in it! Seems to be the only real airplane I can even kind of get in and out of on my own from the wheelchair... I have tried them all too! Fortunately they are very reasonably priced these days, but finding a good one can be a challenge.

Just a Skyhawk SP I rent. I've been flying some tailwheels and Skylane's with instructor, but can't solo until 150 hours because of insurance. I'm up to 105 hours, so hopefully by June I can fly the others.

Maybe it's just the angle, but that last photo in the sequence looks like you're in ground effect... or should I say "water effect"?

sounds like a bad ass day! Next time you guys are out at hicks stop in at my hangar. I got the apartment done so it will be my official residence after this weekend. It was a great day to be in the air yesterday. I shot down to hillsborough and made 2 jumps yesterday. And man was it cold at altitude!! -jake

My grandparents own the property next to the Boyd PD. Fill me in on the next run out that way! Looks like a helluva time you had. Great pics from the plane, and of Tillman taking up all the room in the aft seats!
