I spent some time this past weekend (6 HOURS!) detailing the exterior of my GT4. It's been a busy week, so its taken me a while to load up the pics.
Overall the paint is in excellent condition save for a few rock chips on the rocker panels and one ugly one on the drivers door.
I started by taping off all the trim and grilles with blue painters tape. Since I was using a new DA Orbital machine I did not want to take any chances of anything snagging the trim.
Next, I washed the car down and dried it completely. After that I clayed the entire surface of the car. Every square inch was hit by the clay. It's amazing what comes off with this stuff! I used Griot's Garage products for the clay, polishing and waxing.
Once the car was clayed and dried again, I hit her with the polish. The only area where I could see swirls was on the trunk under the 'Ferrari' script. This took them right out. Finally, I waxed the car with the Best of Show Wax. I'm VERY happy with the results. My car has never looked so good!!! Since I drive the heck out of it she tends to get dirty and I'm not used to having her look so doggone nice. In fact, I'm going to drive her up to a car show tomorrow and park her next to a fine Testarossa. We will be the only 2 Ferraris at the show, so it should be fun! If I have time tonight I'll pull the wheels off and clean those up on the inside.
    Anyway, enjoy the pics!

    Looking fine there Jim.
Pretty funny; you're getting her out because the nice weather is on the way and I'm putting mine away because the hot weather will arrive any day now.

Nice to know I'm not the only guy who writes the date and mileage on the oil filter.

As a PS, I noticed we have many of the same mods: 328 wheels, aluminum shift knob, aluminum pedals (with footrest)...

I love your steering wheel- I may have to upgrade mine too.

I am another member in the write down the mileage/date/type of oil on the oil filter club.

Thanks for the comments. The steering wheel is another MUST DO upgrade to the GT4. It is smaller in dia. than the stock (which I still have) and is thicker. It gives a much better, more solid feel compared to stock.

Looks beautiful Jim. I'm trying to get up enough energy to do the same. The car looks new and the lines are those of a classic Ferrari!

Yes Jim's car does look GREAT! Many spectators do not appreciate the amount of time and effort it takes to make a car that is driven look near perfect. Jim was cool enough to drive up to our local car show and hang out, and I can't tell you how honored I was that he showed up. I had never seen a GT-4 in person, and I must say the car looks much better in person than in photographs. I spent a long time just studying all the little details, styling cues....just everything. What really hit me is when Jim was leaving, driving that beautiful RED Italian car through the rows and rows of street rods and musclecars - it looked awesome!

    To quote....dinogt4guy's earlier posting....

"Looking good Jimmy!!! Too bad for the TR, its gonna be outshined by the Dino!!! Love the no diaper look!"

The Testarossa has big style to it...but I do have to agree with dinogt4guy in this case.....Jim's Dino attracted LOTS of attention and deservedly so. Here is a coulple of pics from the show of our cars.....

Thanks for the kind words Jeff!

It was a real pleasure to drive up to hang with Jeff for the show. I only wish I could've stayed longer, but family commitments pulled me away after only 3hrs or so.
The drive was nice. I snapped a couple pictures on the way up. Norther Indiana and Southern Michigan are really beautiful places when the grass is green and the leaves are out! For this day, there was hardly a cloud in the sky, either. :) I set a minor milestone by rolling over 71,000KMS on the way up. I managed to catch that on film.
Jeff is the proud owner of a G O R G E O U S '89 TR with 360 wheels. There is not a place on the motor that you couldn't eat off of! It really is a spectacular Ferrari and the 360 wheels really make the look. I spent a lot of time admiring the side strakes on the car and especially the way the front fender gently, yet aggressively forms over the wheels. Ferrari really did and does perform works of art with these cars.
Thanks again Jeff for letting me hang with ya! Too bad we didn't win the '70 Chevelle that they were raffling off. :)

Why are those people even looking at the other cars?
