I know, I know I have been here before with the same problem. The A/C unit works perfect until everything gets "warm". If the fan is set at "5" and blowing then suddenly when I turn the steering wheel it starts to change speed and suddenly stops completely. I have been crawling underneath the steering wheel shaft with the pedals in my ears just to see if there is a cable stuck somewhere. Nothing!!!!! Anyone who had the same issue?????? The A/C unit works perfect by the way. //B//
Took the car to the doctor last Friday. Was lucky ´cause the problem showed itself to the doc. When we went in a roundabout the fan speed started to change and when we parked the car the fan stopped all together. The doc said it was only two posibilities ( spelling???): Either a faulty wire or something in the fan motor itself. We opened the front hood and he pressed gentle on the fan centre axle............and it started again. Took the fan assembly out and he cleaned everything and "welded" the tiny cables which are pressed on to the collector. Also made sure the coals were spring loaded as they should be. Now the fan runs like new. Real nice meeting professionals and see them work. //B//
Great to hear Ben!! That did sound like a nasty issue at first. I actually thought it must have been a wire rubbing/shorting somewhere. I also totally forgot about this thread till now. Glad it was an easy fix after all mate.
Glad you found the problem and it wasn't a long drawn-out or expensive fix!! I think all of us are guilty of sometimes not looking at the simple, basic things first. Good luck with the car!
Yes it was an easy fix...................just had to find the fix. I have had the A/C unit out 20 times by now.........even had it checked in the UK.........thanks to QV London. Now we will start some serious and inspired driving. //B//
