the verticle tail-pipes make the rear look even taller.

Damn man...I mean, Damn. They really got to slim down that Badonkadonk! The rear is too big...and like ChevyChase said, the tailpipes make the car look taller. It'll look better on a mid-engined car...But thanks for the pictures!

I just hope I don't get disappointed when I see it in person eventually...

The height of the back end is accentuated by the fact the bumper is so low - does the trunk opening really need to be that low?

What I really don't like about he back is the drooping mouth look of the lower brake lights - looks like Ron Dennis when he loses!

that is the best point I've heard about the vert pipes. I like them, rather, I don't hate them, but they do overemphasize the already 'tall wall" aspect of the rear.

For some reason, i know i will love this car after seing more pics, in more colors.

I remember when the first pictures of the 599 came out, lots of people was disgusted and compared it to a Supra, Corvette or Viper etc... and people HATED the fact that the car has only SINGLE rear lights on each. We werent used to it, now the opinions on the 599 has changed a lot, in the good way.

Its like that everytime, when a new Ferrari model comes out, the design is always outrageous and creates a lot of questionning but at the end, Ferrari always see further than us, and their car will look absolutely stunning.

I guess you mean lower brake lights - they're visible in this pic:

I wish it had two taillights on both sides. I wished the same for the 599 when I first saw it.
I'm still trying to like the one light thing.

    Cheers,
    JJ

I can't imagine those will be on the final car! Now that would be ugly.
Sort of like the current Nissan Z car with those rear turn signal lights slits way down the bottom of the rear cheeks. As if the designers forgot the turn signal lights and said, " hey lets put them here"!

    Cheers,
    JJ

Rear visibility with such a narrow rear window will be quite poor. The back looks like a Big Mac: layer upon layer of fat. I guess I don't like it...

A folding top means a lot of packaging/design compromises. Not all successful.

I don't mind the rear end being so tall but it does look a little weird how it's put together. That piece in the middle (where those lower brake lights are) reminds me of the piece you put into your dining room table to stretch it out when you need a bigger table.
