OK, bear with me, although there is a thread, I really want those gear heads to see this so they will come next year. This gathering had it all, a little historic Indy, NASCAR, AND UNATTENDED PARADE LAPS! I kinda got a taste for it, and hit 120 on the banking. It was a blast, it was strange seeing Marc in that bad ass Aprilla canted over to one side on the banking behind me on the top of the banking.

And to hear the cars, to literally be only a foot away when they fired them. Its been a long time since my ear got that hurtful tickle from something that loud-let's call it a beautiful noise! It was cool.....

I could not believe it, but in true Southern Darlington style, we had no pep talk before the parade laps, no warnings, just get out there and go! It was quite an experience-you could feel the car pushing down on the track, and I understand now what they mean when they say high on the banking...Thanks to Yvonne and David Braught for the pictures. Note we took off and left him (something happened to my right foot), but here are some pictures of a lap around Darlington. Trust me, the banks are much stepper than they look in the pictures.

great pics. I'm glad that vintage stock cars are finally getting the respect they deserve.

how is Ned Jarrett doing? Heard he was having a lot of health issues a while ago (last fall?). looks pretty good in those pics.

Those cars sponsored by the "Daytona Beach Kennel Club" are hilarious. how the sport has changed....

Ned seemed to be fine, in fact, I think he was one of the commentators on Sunday for the California race.

    J-MF,

I enjoyed talking with you about your time there and these great pictures let me know that the FCA needs a bigger presence there next year. We definitely could use our southern motorsports heritage be the basis for a major future event.

Thank you, thank you, thank you,
    res

Looked like a great time David!! I'm getting very un-motivated when there is no F-car in the garage and my car is still down.

Take one of those huge trucks, and run it right through that AHoles garage that has your Viper engine. Have Vinny pay him a visit, and get him on the right path...Call him everyday, everyday, and let him know now disapointed you are, and that he must give you your engine, and money back now. Just a few suggestions. I've been there.

But the heads are now DONE and the motor will be completed next week!! I'm just tired of waiting for work that was promised to be completed in less than 8 weeks!...But that's for another thread.

Let's hope so, otherwise you may need to visit the shop at Midlands Tech. I hear they have a "small engine" class..
