GT-R first impressions Video, my 360 & GT-R pictures

A friend of mine got the new GT-R. I had it in my possession for about a week and had a great time with it.

Another friend of mine was nice enough to come out and take this excellent video in exchange for a ride:
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/N...rst_180423.htm

I hope you guys enjoy the video. Yes, that is me driving the Nissan, but don't worry - I don't drive the Ferrari that hard.

One thing I didn't comment on in the video is my impression compared to the 360. After driving the 360 and the GT-R back to back, the 360 is the clear winner in that it is much more fun to drive. I can truly say the 360 would still be my choice regardless of price, fit and finish, or name brand. The Nissan is a very cool gadget and has an amazing launch control, but wouldn't be my choice above a 360 (or F430, or GT3) because it is a bit disconnected and that makes it less of a drivers car to me. Even so, it seems better than a Z06 to me, even though it isn't as raw.

I have a separate 360 vs. GT-R video that I will post later (not processed yet).

I took some pictures of my 360 next to the GT-R, check them out!

I certainly do! He is a great guy and is the founder of www.streetfire.net . He is a true car guy and puts his heart into his company, so please check out his site if you liked the video!
Actually I was going to purchase the GT-R car myself, but things worked out differently in the end. I am very happy for him that he has the car.

Interesting, thanks for posting. GTR is for sure amazing powerfull car, i personally like Nissanīs, used to have two 300ZX. This car will kick ass to any car. I met just 2 weeks ago one GTR here as well. I met him on higway, than we got together at gas station. The guy told me its first GTR in Europe, one week later i saw this guy presenting the car in TV.... I met him again on highway last week But i miss in this car some passion e.g. sound, etc..... I would not change it for my 360 althought i know he would kick my a s s as well

Both cars have amazing performance and statistics --- but one is gorgeous while the other is is truly ugly.

Looks are subjective, but this is a perfect example of how much Italian and Japanese design differs.

your blue

Your blue 360 is absolutely stunning! That color is BEAUTIFUL. Is that tour de france?

I drove a GT-R. Neck-breaking acceleration. Sheer fear. I too felt it was disconnected. But, amazing piece of machinery considering it's Nissan. From Boring to BOING. It only took them 15 years to bring it in to the states. Really though, great accomplishment for Nissan. Now, if Toyota would just re-up on the Supra TT. YUMMY.

the GTR has always been a formidable thing.

go back to 1989 when the R32 was launched...how did its performance/track prowess compare to a 348...

ideal situation = both in the garage

Wow, those comparison shots are great. Looks like the GT-R is trying to eat the 360. haha.

Thanks, I appreciate the comments. Yes it is Tour de France blue.
The GT-R is fast but I wouldn't call it fear. The power delivery is very linear. The Z06 can cause more fear than the Nissan in my opinion. Even with traction on, it can step out pretty hard if you try something silly.

I didn't really get what you meant concerning the Z06/GT-R thing... By the way, thanks for the video, it's really impressive. And your 360 looks awesome ! .

Your 360 is stunning. Not a fan of the GT whatever. I know it has great numbers, just not my thing.

Looks can be subjective, but someone saying the gtr looks better than the 360 is the same as saying Rosey ODonell looks better than Jessica Alba.....I would have to question the persons sanity, mental capacity and or eye sight!!!!

I drove one today for the 1st time.....linear acceleration is fantastic; cornering for this car is great as well. However, it's a 2x2 and there's no getting away from that...quite a bit heavier feel [although I have not studied statistics on the car] than I am used to....almost seems like a great drifter for a heavy foot. The car looks like a hot, smelly-turd, but handles much better than it looks. It's hard for me to get excited about a true sports car with a full navigation system and two usable seats behind me....

Based on the feel, I'd rather purchase a used Porsche for 1/2 the money and drive the pants off of it - or wait a year and buy it for less than an older used Porsche. Anyone considering paying a premium for this car now in this economy should opt to drop trow now and allow your friends to kick you in the balls as hard as they can......maybe it will slow things down enough for prospective purchasers to catch their breath and wake up.

nice GTR and 360 but i can't get over the sound of the GTR, sounds like rice cooking until you hear the pop-off valve and then it shoots it's load
