MY EXPERIENCE WITH DODGE VIPERS

ive played with the following:

1999 gts
2000 conv.
2005 mamba

my assessment is the following:

the dodge viper is one of the most poorly built sports car to date. the suspension is loose and feels like a car that was in a frame bending accident. there is no traction button so youre literally on your own on turns.... a straight line car that is unsafe over 75mph... anybody who dares to take this car over 110mph is a very brave person and a much better man than me. seating position is absolutely horrendous and the interior is loud and rattles uncomfortably . the interior gets very hot as the car is poorly insulated. plane jane car without any options. the 2 pros are the amazing acceleration and the slick look (subjective).

the 2005 (gen 3) is much better built than the generation 2's but still very far from doing a 90k car justice.

bash me all day along if you want.

Only drivin one. Felt like the suspension floated around a bit.

No steering feel at all.

Still a charming car in a big brutish kinda way.

To most good drivers, that is a GOOD thing.

Maybe you need to take a drivers class. The Viper, while I am not a fan, sure is a drivers car. Not tring to be a di*k. But it might be your skills not the cars. Look at the ACR's 'Ring times....

That statement is funny... you must be a democrat. I don't expect anyone to be helping me out in the turns
I would have to disagree with you across the board my GTS has been a rewarding car to own... no regrets, that's why it is still in the garage.

I have a car with traction control and I hate it because it takes the fun out of driving

You are entitled to your opinion. But you are wrong.

Ok

Wow. Bash a car because you are not man enough to drive it. Take some driving lessons.

Or you can just get a girls car.

Anyone can "own" cars, but not everyone can drive them.
You a poser or a driver?
I saw the "beast" how's the traction control on that tank?

Owned, because you don't know how to drive or wait you are too scared to drive over 75 in a viper?

Oh and by your first post. I am a better man than you!

I think you owned yourself by starting this thread.

Ive owned

Ferrari 355
Dodge Viper
Lotus Elise
BMW M3

I have considerable seat time in

Ferrari 360
Aston Martin Vantage

All I can say is out of the above cars the Viper is easily the most fun to drive and fun is what a sports car is all about.

You dont need to convince me of anything and Im not going to bother trying to convince you of anything.

My Garage
I have some seat time in my Brothers Gen 1 Viper. They can get away from you quite easily. On the Viper forums, someone crashes a car almost every week. I absolutely love the car however. The build quality has been good on it, and he has had zero problems on it in 2 years. Just curious why you would own several before coming to a conclusion that you didn't like them?

This thread has me interested. I have been considering an ACR as a track car. Speaking with people who have owned the cars as part of a diverse stable (so not "Viper Only" fanatics) I have heard only positive comments about the build quality. I think this is all on a relative scale. I could list the numerous finish flaws on my 430 and all of the NVH problems with my Cayman S, so I guess I would have some tolerance for minor issues with a new Viper.

I laugh when I drive the Viper.

No other car does that to me and the list of cars is a long one.
