It has come to my attention that Ferrari uses Schedoni leather. It seems that it would hurt the Schedoni when you skin it. They must be endangered anyway, since I haven't even seen a picture of one. Are they raised in captivity in cages where they can't even move around? Must be a rather large animal, quite a bit larger than its' cousin, the Pastrami. How does it taste? Is there a society for the prevention of cruelty to Schedonis? Anybody got a picture of one?

They are very difficult to spot in the wild. They live high in the Italian Alps. They do look similar to the Alpaca, or so I have heard.

They taste like baby harp seal.

Not at all like spotted owl.

One of the reasons they are hard to spot is because they are nocturnal. If they come out in the sunlight they shrink.

They also use the hooves to make the turn indicator oil, it is a super fine oil that prolongs the life of the bulbs.

Contrary to PETA propaganda, Schedoni's are not harmed in any way. Like snakes, Schedoni's shed their precious leather as they molt each Winter in the Alps.

Test driving Ferrari's on snow-covered-roads inevitably leads factory drivers to a surplus of Schedoni non-road-kill. As a kindness to Mother Gaia, Ferrari gently recycles this discarded leather into seats, suitcases, belts, and shoes.

Clearly Husker has hacked your account. I am surprised you did not recommend using Alpaca in lieu of the rare schedonii...
and yes, there is a small, but vocal group of women who are speaking out on behalf of the rare schedonii... They are called "Passionate Martyrs for Schedoni" or PMS for short. I am sure you have heard of it. They even have some medications available to help these poor souls in dealing with their pain...but I digress...

I thought Schedoni leather came from "Schiena and Doni". Which means "back and donate". I went to the factory and they have a basement full of seal babies of a genetic cross bread making them completely bald, with the biggest brown eyes, all fed bonemeal and dye. Every six months or so they peel the top few layers of skin and use that for the famous schedoni. The final product has been perfected over the years starting first with rubbing salt after the removal of the skin, but that made the new one too tough. The final bit is a number of herbs (largely thyme, oregano, bay leaves and cayenne pepper) mixed together and washed on with Orvieto grape juice.

A while back some liberal (the male President of PMS) came by and got all uppety-up about the the suffering caused, but one of the execs gave him a check for $200K, keys to a 355 (which is why I'm ethically against that car and its drivers) and a hammer. After that there were no further complaints, and the production of leather more than doubled as the leather seat covers are now formed while the animal is alive to ensure that it is preformed and not harmed by the stitching process with the rusty old 10 inch needles. You know, real artisans don't change their tools...

Isn't Schedoni just a branding iron used to label any leather product?

beats the heck out of the Connolly leather scenario as you need to run down a drunken Brit and scalp them before they raise an eye-brow.

I wish we could buy pleather interiors instead but we can't. At least not yet.

So, if you're going to buy a leather interior made out of a Schedoni, then please at least make sure it was from a "free range Schedoni"!
The free range variety aren't kept in those factory farms where the poor Schedonis suffer from extreme crowding, deprivation, as well as castration, branding, tail-docking, and dehorning.

Sure, the free range ones might have a little bit more dark meat than the farm-raised ones, but you have to adjust your priorities for the greater good.

Here is a picture of a free range Schedoni that thanks you!

This really can be true. If Ferrari gets it free or cheap it will end up in our cars! Its 2009 and our interiors have been sticky for 10 years! 10 years of ferrari sticky interiors. No other manufactuer on this earth can claim such precision engineering or lack thereof.

In the 1930's the Schedoni were imported into Australia as a biological control to the cane toad and the rabbit

Unfortunately the weather was too hot for them (with their long wool) and they took to the waterholes.

There they bred with salt water crocodiles and became the Bunyip.

They have reached plague proportions in some states, particularly Queensland around the town of............... Mt Isa….

If you click on the "About Us" link on this site, you can see what happens to all the poor Schedoni's that get caught
(along with some neat historical pics).

Cute animals, but they do make nice luggage though.

Nooo, the Nauga is related, but it is a small hideous variety from the higher elevations near France. The cured hyde of the Nauga looks like Schedoni from a distance but has a very hard plastic like texture and deteriorates very rapidly. Interestingly the back side of cured Nauga hyde has a texture that is almost fabric like.

I heard the Schedonis are actually clubbed at a very young age. They are easiest to hit when actually nursing on the mothers teets.
