I own a 95 355 Berlinetta for the past year and I have reall been enjoying it. I had before a 348 TB and then moved to the 355, which I found a huge gap in power and driving sensations. I have never driven a Modena and I would like to receive input from people that have owned a 355 and a 360. Is the drinving and handleing very different? How about power and acceleration and driving sensations? I am thinking of moving up to a Modena, but would appreciate your input. Thanks!

    Power/Accel - 360 is only a little faster. If you have a 95 you'll barely feel a difference.

Handling - 360 is way more tail happy, slightly better at handling.

Driving Sensations - The F355 is more raw and extreme which means it's not as comfortable. The 360 feels much "smoother", refined, and more comfortable. The F355 feels more special to me, but the 360 is the car I'd want if I was running errands, driving to work, etc.

I drove a 360 with an F1 gearbox .......... as kevin mentioned above overall, it was not a lot faster than my stock F355 ........ at mid-range power it 'felt' dartier but at wide open throttle, I could not notice any difference between the two. I like how the 355 has a sort of classic/retro interior and the wedge look is what I always liked about f-cars. The looks of the 360 is too bubbly, which I was tired of after many many years with p-cars .

I cannot wait to dyno my 355 with its new 'by-pass delete exhaust' and hi-flow air intake boxes .......... at that point I believe the acceleration delta between the 355 vs 360 should become inconsequential ........... ;)!!!

I'll second that! In fact, if it's not we should BBQ your old air box and eat it. :D

I do not know what you guys are talking about but my guess is that each iteration 348/355/360/430 is litterally about 5+ secs a lap faster on track like WSIR and that is pretty huge to me.

Some V8 Ferrari HP numbers in stock form as I recall them:

348 has 300-312 HP base and SS/spider models

355 has 375-380 HP later and early models

360 has 400-425 HP Modena and CS

I am hoping for about 25RWHP gain with my new exhaust and new air boxes. Which if it goes as planned would take my 355 to at least stock modena HP :).

Time around a track brings in the dynamics of the chassis. But even so around fiorano, the 355 was at least 2 seconds faster than the 512TR, about 7 seconds faster than the 348 and only 3 seconds slower than the 360 ....... which incorporated an all new alloy chassis ....... so IMO stock 360 performance is not way out of reach for the 355 at least in a straight line :) .................... ok I have got my flame suit on now ...... :D!!!

Guys, thanks for your input and all this info. When I moved up from the 348 to a 355 I really noticed a big generational gap, and I just wasnt´t sure it would be the same from a 355 to a 360. thanks

I have owned a 360 f1 and a 355 gts in this order and to be honest I enjoyed driving the 355 better. i would however say that I have also driven the 360 as a spider and manual and thoroughly enjoyed it so if I had the choice, for a coupe I would choose the 355 and if it is a spider the 360. The 355 is a much smaller car and I still prefer the manual over f1. The 355 is a more mechanical feel than the 360 and therefore you feel like you are part of the whole process whereas the 360 I felt a little superfluous as everything was so easy to use. I suppose you learn to love a car more when you have to compromise a little. Mind you I had Pirelli Corsa semi track tyres and a mille-miglia exhaust on the 355 and it was superb, I loved the roof off noises.

I did not denote Gearboxes, but since you did ........

    355 (F1) ........... 1:33
    360 ................. 1:31
    -------
    + 2 seconds

    355F1 is still a 355 ..................... ;)

No comparison in driving sensation, the 355 bits the 360 in my opinion. I drove a 360 recently thinking maybe I will add a coupe to my 355 Spider but the 360, although it felt a little faster, was a boring car to drive. If I would consider a 360 it would be the CS only. On the other hand the 430 would be my pick for a real upgrade.

+1 ............ IMO a standard 360 would in no way trump a 355 in the 'stimulation' department ................ a CS would be worth getting in addition to a 355 .......... and as far as replacing the 355, I would only do it for an F40 ..................... yes, a few or even many would not agree .................... but I rarely listen to anything other than the 'voices in my head' ........ ;)
